By Patriarchal Unit on September 26, 2011
Be cautious when ordering this Item. I was searching for any programmable thermostat after i discovered this item. I figured it is always good to determine the outdoors temperature displayed when checking my thermostat. I got myself a Honeywell RTH8500D thermostat to make use of with this particular sensor. The thermostat was on purchase and the site for that sensor indicated it might use the thermostat. I copied and pasted area of the technical details on the internet page for that sensor below:
"Technical Details: Outside temperature for visible on the T8600 or T8500 family thermostats."
Or connect to the page: Honeywell C7089U1006 Outside Temperature Sensor [Misc.]
after receiving, programming and beginning cellular phone process, I came across the sensor wouldn't use the thermostat. The thermostat sub-base lacks the terminals needed for connecting the sensor wires. I downloaded additional installation instructions and discovered a TH8320U1008 VISION PRO 8000 thermostat is needed for that sensor feature. I came back towards the sensor web site and observed the mention of VISION PRO thermostat was listed. The issue here is additionally, it advises it really works using the T8500 family thermostats. It doesn't. I came back the thermostat to and purchased the right unit. Nevertheless it is more expensive and Honeywell will not warranty it unless of course it's installed with a PRO. They do not define what a professional is. Anyway it is easy to configure, install and program. The creature's been operational for many days now and I am happy with It's performance. treated me very fairly with this particular issue, but the mistake continues to be on the internet page for that sensor.2 Comments Was this review useful for you? Really understand the chart using the resistance/temp values. Leads are extremely short, though, and won't squeeze into the S1/S2 terminal blocks around the Honeywell 8000 series thermostats without stripping away a few of the strands to help make the conductor pack thinner. Overall, though quality products.Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... Appreciate your feedback. If the review is inappropriate, Please tell us. By Jeremy Furzer on Feb 5, 2013
I checked resistance as they are against reference temperatures and calibration was off by 1-3 deg. c. The mistake isn't straight line, below -20C it reads 1-2 deg C cooler and above zero it's studying 1-2 deg warmer. It not economical to send it back since the refund of canadian inport duty and taxes is really a hassel.Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... I made the decision to perform a add-on to my TH8320U1008 VISION PRO 8000. I acquired fed up with searching in the small thermometer outdoors.
Used to do just a little thinking about the cable go to the outdoors utilizing a 25ft 18/2 thermostat wire I selected up a 12" 3/16 drill bit and drilled
with the sheet rock, then with the floor wall stud towards the crawl space. (just beneath the thermostat). I pulled the wire with a few kite string. (two person job)
I connected the wire to S1 and S2 from the stat and programed the stat 340 to at least one. The stat now displays the outdoors temp.
In case your using Automatic mode with this stat. It will not show the outdoors temp with this model. Make use of mode awesome or heat and it
displays it within the lower right hands corner from the stat. i am glad, I went and added the outdoors temp sensor. Works great !Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... By Lonnie Schumacher on November 10, 2008
The Honeywell C7089U1006 Outside Temperature Sensor was simple to connect and install, but a bit more $$ than I ought to have compensated, I put this in after i installed the brand new programmable thermostat. Now I've got a mention of outdoors temp in the thermostat. I'm not sure when they create a compatible cordless remote, which may be simpler, but that one, to date appears accurate and Operable. Intend on splicing the contact lines, However, as the leads are only 6 feet long4 Comments Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... by R. Blossom on October 23, 2012
Saw this sensor after i purchased a substitute Honeywell TH9421C1004 thermostat. Yes the outline above does not bring that model stat as compatible, but the incorporated instructions for that TH9421C1004 stated it had been. Plus this sensor was listed as "Frequently bought together" using the substitute TH9421C1004 stat.
it had been, sorta. To use this sensor with the TH9421C1004 stat (and most likely others) one has to connect it to the central control box (mine is definitely an Honeywell "EnviraZone") by having an 50022037 Outside Sensor Interface Module. It connects to the EnviraCOM bus three-wiring.
So -1 star without reference to the Interface module, which is also sold by . Honeywell Enviracom Outdoor Sensor Interface Module - 50022037-001
Main point here, check carefully to find out if additionally you require the interface module and you then have a open EnviraCOM bus connection in your control box. The benefit of this kind connection may be the outside temperature is going to be shown on all connected thermostats, not only the main one using the sensor. Regrettably, I did not - all 4 bus connections within the EnviraZone control box were already getting used ¢ñ but no stars off for your. :¢ñ)Comment Was this review useful for you?
