By B. Roach on April 20, 2008 Size: 6.5 Inch
The livingroom in our new home just doesn't have a place for free-standing speakers due to the floorplan (very available to all of those other house, having a hearth right in front corner). This ruled out using my existing (High-finish) theater speakers (large towers).
I visited the neighborhood big-supply yard, and the only real group of in-wall loudspeakers they'd which i thought were worth buying were some Klipsch that arrived at $600 per set. I almost selected them, but after calculating I discovered these were a couple of" too wide for where I desired to set up one of these. The $300 Infinity set sounded horrible. They did not sell Polk Audio or Boston Acoustic, that was really what I needed to check out.
So ... I figured at $140 from , the RC65i's were worth a go. I am glad Used to do - cost versus. performance they are a great group of loudspeakers. Decent dynamic range, and actually a surprising amount of bass if you don't have a subwoofer (though I suggest getting one - you are able to only get a lot from a 6" speaker).
Now ... are these "amazing" loudspeakers? Well ... No. They don't rival my aforementioned towers. Individuals towers were also $900 a bit. They are also not pretty much as good because the $600 Klipsch in-walls I checked out. If you feel you are getting amazing clearness and dynamic range for $70 a speaker ... you are likely to be disappointed.
What they are is a superb everyday speaker which will seem decent to many people under most conditions. They're a *slight* bit muddy, but not for that cost range. This is the factor you need to do is do a comparison with other loudspeakers you can upgrade on so very little money. As well as some that cost a bit more - the Infinity set I took in to in the big-supply yard was two times the cost and did not seem much better. Read more › 5 Comments Was this review useful for you? I am a sound Engineer by trade. I got myself 4 teams of these because was tossing within the 8" subwoofer and I could not become more pleased. I produced a 7.1 atmosphere. One speaker did not get used but whatever. I compensated under $600 for the whole setup with shipping n' everything. Forget having to pay the $300+ for any center speaker. For those who have all the same, then your timber from the should ought to be even. After I score films, I personally use exactly the same speaker types for that 5.1, 6.1, 7.1.
installation:
Cellular phone would be a walk-in-the-park! I needed to reduce a wall stud to help make the center speaker fit but which was the toughest and most time intensive part. Installing them in the dry wall took all of a few minutes for the 3 speakers (L/R/C).
I actually do recommend benefiting from insulation and putting that in first before you decide to install your loudspeakers. It dramatically boosts the performance and Seem. The wall I had been setting them up in did not have and so i increased within the attic room and eliminate some small pieces from part of my ceiling. It labored like charm. :¢ñ)
Once individuals were done we reduce the ceiling and began setting them up there. Individuals were just a little tricky because in certain parts I'd Drywall and in another I'd some type of concrete as well. It had wires n' everything. After we broke through it (very untidy) installing individuals speaker went just like smooth because the others. Just needed to patch and paint just a little but it had not been an excessive amount of a discomfort.
Running the wires were not an excessive amount of a discomfort. There is a closet on the other hand and so i just drilled an opening and ran the speaker wires in to the closet. I Then drilled another bigger whole over through the receiver and ran all the wires using that. Read more › 2 Comments Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... by T. Hall on December 26, 2007 Size: 6.5 " Quite simple to set up and Fantastic seem. Adopted everyone's advice and stuffed the cavity with insulation....recorded the wall with Scotch blue painters tape..and scored the paper from the drywall having a razor before cutting having a small drywall saw!1 Comment Was this review useful for you? I got myself a set of these in-walls for any billiard tableOrsport room area I'm building within the basement. My receiver is definitely an Onkyo 805 7.1 home entertainment system and these can function as stereo/audio part for just that room. I have not owned Polks or perhaps in wall loudspeakers for instance and listened to them at the big box store before purchasing these through . I had been really impressed in the quality of sound. I additionally did not want floor standing loudspeakers, but did not wish to sacrifice quality of sound either so these loudspeakers filled the balance.
No back boxes are essential, the speaker is designed as an "infinite
baffle" type and only mandates that the leading and rear moving sound wave
are isolated from one another. Polk recommends to maximise the seem quality, you set a modest quantity of a seem absorbing material, such as Polyfil (an artificial cotton-like material available at craft/fabric stores) within the cavity before installing the loudspeakers. Allegedly, this can absorb the trunk moving seem wave and reduce mid-range coloration. I believe insulation also works equally well. I've not carried this out yet and they still seem excellent!Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... By Uncle Matt on May 10, 2011 Size: 8 Inch
Seem Quality: After lots of research on "affordable" in-wall and wall-mounted loudspeakers to be used in the home theatre, I chosen the Polk RC85i without hearing them. 's testimonials were a large factor. Initially I purchased only a pair from to make certain I loved them. I installed them into my drywall and wired these to funnel "B" of my receiver with "A" powering my a lot more costly floor-standing tower loudspeakers. Toggling from a and B I possibly could hear an impressive difference using the RC85i's since the frequency range much better than the pricey towers and supplying exceptional stereo imagery. I'd buddies and family close their eyes and let me know that they preferred and unanimously they chose the RC85i's (and were unanimously surprised -- Appears many people expect large, prominent loudspeakers to seem much better than nearly hidden in-wall loudspeakers). I've now purchased 5 pair total, using 2 pair for front mains (will get me to 200 watts RMS per funnel), 2 pair for side surrounds (1 pair for every row in your home theatre), and 1 pair for rear surrounds. at 's cost, that was always the cheapest anywhere, I've completed my house theatre at a small fraction of what I was expecting for seem this good. Obviously you ought to not expect these to handle cheapest from the low finish, and when combined with my subwoofer it's perfect to my ears, but using the subwoofer off they're still impressive for his or her size.
installation: Instructions are pretty straight forward and Simple to follow. If you're able to cut an opening inside your wall towards the necessary dimensions and feed a wire, anybody can install these loudspeakers tightly without any air leaks or rattling. My installation was at new walls and I made use of Polk's "pre-construction" brackets. Read more › Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback...
