By Bus Ripper tools on June 30, 2011
I purchased the kodak playtouch camcorder to exchange a unsuccessful 7 years old The new sony RDR GX-300 DVD recorder. After studying all of the comments, I'd mixed feelings. Upon finding the unit and configuring it, Here's what I discovered.
The Toshiba DR430 DVD Recorder is really a solid DVD recorder. it records and plays all formats you'll ever need (+R, +RW, /R, -RW, and others Irrrve never discovered). If you are over 40, your vision may have a problem using the remote, but some squinting will overcome this. This remote is as with other black remotes with grey buttons.
When it comes to comments this unit loads and formats disks gradually, that's a lot of nonsense. All DVD recorders take a little time, period. Your not playing an outlet bought movie.
You are able to record in SP, LP and Air. You will get different recording capacities per disk based on quality wanted. Extended period = lower quality, a shorter period = greater quality. Much like around the old VHS VCR recorders. it's a smart choice. You place that up easily using the RECORD MODE button around the remote. Irrrve never make use of the timer, I usually make use of the A Stride RECORD button. Each push provides you with half an hour of recording time, then your recording stops. Wish to record a 90 minute movie off your Tivo, then press the record button 3 occasions, Its that easy.
Compensated $113 with free delivery and been with them in 4 days...in good shape. No dents within the box. It is not repacked inside a bigger box though, but I received mine all right.
The recording and Audio inputs and outputs take presctiption the rear You should use RCA or S cable. I am using both and it does not care. There a port around the front, behind a little door, for recording (installing) from a camcorder (or other device).
The manual covers everything, but you need to see clearly to know it. Read more › 131 Comments Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... By Thomas Glebe on October 8, 2011 After I bought this, I needed a thing that would essentially replace my old, dead VCR, but do all of it with DVD media, not outdated VHS tapes, and that meant a DVD recorder. after doing my research and noting this item appeared to suit me and wants, and as i can surely state that I'd some early connection problems, after a short while of owning and by using this, it is basically just about (although not completely) everything I needed from a classic VCR substitute, but utilizing DVD dvds, not VHS tape tech.
Which is actually a good factor, since obviously, magnetic tapes deteriorate considerably faster than DVD dvds ever will. For "time-shifting" various programs later on Viewing, this really is even simpler to program than my old VHS recorder. Quite simply, utilizing a DVD-RW or DVD+RW disc, I can record a lot of stuff for later (inside my convenience) Viewing. And taking advantage of DVDRW dvds, removing and recording over temporary stuff a large number of occasions appears easy, with respect to the make of RW media used. Most brand RW Digital video disks works, but some might by no means or cool, so I'd recommend sticking with Memorex and Maxell DVD RW media. Along with other brands, and incompatible DVD - WRITE speed dvds, problems can happen, so make an effort to that you follow the 2 mentions. The new sony and another brands of DVDRW disks may have problems. Suggested brand RW disks are pointed out within the manual however, and are the best choice.
Apart from some early connection difficulties, and a couple of minor, easily solved problems here and There, this appears to complete exactly what I needed it to complete, and achieves this on DVD dvds. I've twenty five years of VHS tape of family occasions which i was worried may be failing and so i needed something to transfer these to DVD format. I just read plenty of reviews of numerous machines and finally chosen the Toshiba DR430. The reduced cost would be a big incentive. I'm so glad I purchased it. all I needed to do was go as they are, hook it up to my TV, connect the VCR towards the Toshiba and I had been going. You don't need to browse the manual whatsoever. well, If this ended, I sprang the very first copy into another DVD player, I acquired nothing. Not a problem-I never finalized it, which I found out when I called customer support (no manual studying for me personally!). he was excellent, directed me towards the page within the manual, then anxiously waited as i adopted the instructions to make certain I'd no problems. it labored perfectly. The only real factor which i would change is I'd use DVD+RW dvds rather of DVD+R so will be able to edit the chapter names. I intend to buy some today. I introduced the very first copy to Thanksgiving and everybody viewed the whole factor. Ha-I said excitedly at some point they'd be grateful in my experience for videoing all individuals years and I had been right. Despite the fact that they were always waving me away.7 Comments Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... Appreciate your feedback. If the review is inappropriate, Please tell us. Bought this DVR to allow me to transfer VCR tapes to DV. Even though the manual doesn't particularly let you know how, it really is simple to decipher it. Take part in the VCR using Audio-video cables in to the front from the DVR and hit record. That's how easy it had been. You have to alter the input to Front using the menu button. I've made many DV's quickly and easily and Pleased with it. I've also recorded Television shows from the Direct TV box through the S Video jack and the standard is great!8 Comments Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback...
