Works great- love Insteon (wallet wishes it had been cheaper)
By Phillip E. Glaeser on October 5, 2011
In the last 6 several weeks i have installed 2 of this specific lamplinc, one of the older non- dual band lamplinc, a new dual band outlet receptacle (unsure the correct name), numerous switches and two 8 button keypads. I have also got the HomeLinc software and a Smartlinc (used solely like a timer for landscape lighting).
The brand new dual band module is a lot smaller sized compared to older version. That alone may be worth the [small] cost difference. The additional 1/3 thickness really is important when looking to get the merchandise behind a bookshelf. the look is clean and Simple. Unsure when the dual band is actually needed but it's nice not to have phase couplers (warts as i have heard them known as) installed at home.
A couple of recommendations on insteon generally:
First, once you begin you will not wish to stop. It felt like I was ordering things (mostly from amazon . com free of charge PRIME shipping) every second day.
second, I've the majority of the bottom floor under Insteon control and I am unable to imagine doing the programing with either the HomeLinc software or something like that. For that 8 button switches I've multiple scenes and might have pulled my hair out attempting to program everything by hand.
Third, when you get 6 or 8 button switches spend the $20 and get custom buttons made. It'll impress your buddies and most significantly stop your spouse from complaining "the home is smarter than me."
Lastly, obtain the HomeLinc or similar software. I adore this before? really, Simply do it... Imagine you've got a program setup with 3 lamps and 2 circuits of overhead lights and your spouse mentions "I still think this can be a little too vibrant for that mornings." WIthout software this can be a nightmare to repair. Read more › 2 Comments 10 of 10 people found this useful. Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... By David Ventura on May 5, 2011 When I pointed out within my other reviews, I come up with a fairly simple home automation system to manage lights and such within my family room/tv area. These connect devices control and dim lights.
Undoubtedly the simplest INSTEON product I got myself to setup and get linked. If you are looking at home automation in your house, I'd recommend the product and some kind of controller as the initial purchase.Comment 8 of 8 people found this useful. By Mr Mojo on April 26, 2011 Purchased a couple of those to work along with two remotelincs we use within the bed room. Total installation and linking here we are at both LampLincs and RemoteLincs was most likely a few minutes. We wife even wants it, so I will need to get more!Comment 7 of seven people found this useful. Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... By Eric Varsanyi on April 19, 2010
I purchased a couple of the unit wishing for their services as signal bridges and improve my network coverage. I had a couple of 'dead spots' where a SwitchLinc would get flakey reception (inside a 75 unit installation).
After I added two of these units to the configuration (replacing LampLinc's) everything got *very* flakey. Watching with a scope there is negligible noise on the line (just a little switching noise from various dimmers) yet group commands are now about as reliable as X10 (despite the 'group cleanup' stuff).
My installation is nearly all older original gen units from 2004 and I believe that firmware bugs inside them aren't playing well using the newer units. Like a counter example I've got a friend about 70 units which are brand new and include a few of these newer lamplincs and he's no difficulties with them as signal bridges.
For the time being I am just coping with the flakiness and have programmed my ISY-99 to repeat group commands several times to insure they occur (much like within the X10 days). It had been nice for a few years getting a good system but I am reluctant to exchange everything again to obvious this up.Comment 5 of 5 people found this useful. Was this review useful for you? I've got a switch within the master bed room that just controls a useless outlet but I needed to manage the nightstand lights, And So I bought one of these simple and a ToggleLinc dimmer. I wired the useless outlet live constantly, and replaced the switch using the ToggleLinc. I plugged the lamps into this LampLinc and It really works great!
Advantages, the ToggleLinc comes with an Brought leading me towards the switch at nighttime. The LampLinc has up/down buttons so I don't have to get out of bed to turn the light off or on (or dim). I can not achieve the opening in the bed and so i plugged this and the lamp within an extension cord and placed it close to the bed. There's a red/eco-friendly brought within the LampLinc to stear me towards the switch at nighttime. The lamp could be dimmed for romantic atmosphere. So when you switch it on or off it ramps up/lower therefore it does not shock the machine having a rapid light change. it's quiet, no loud click like my old X10 control.
just a little pricy but I have used Insteon for a long time with no issues.Comment 3 of three people found this useful. Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... By Dusty on June 20, 2013
A great product, and Simple to use. However, this item typically comes with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty (SMARTHOME.com) and they're usually excellent about replacing unsuccessful products. So when my 8-month old device (Offered by and not Smarthome through ) failed I called SMARTHOME. They'd not recognition the warranty because they didn't market it in my experience directly. I had been directed to and obviously the conventional refund policy wouldn't cover the product after 8 several weeks. Fortunately for me personally Customer Support walked up and Solved the problem out.
Lesson learned - purchase from the manufacturer's website, or through their Storefront if you wish to make certain you receive full advantage of the extended warranty policy when they don't have the means to register purchases made elsewhere.3 Comments 5 of 6 people found this useful.
