Avital 4301LX Remote Starter by R. Stoer on June 15, 2010 Style Name: 4103LX Much more of this review is one of the installation experience compared to unit itself. If another person is going to be doing cellular phone you might want to skip towards the "Actual Product Review" section. The Avital 4103LX is really a remote starter made by Directed Electronics, who also manufacture the Clifford, python and Viper brands (amongst others). The 4103LX (which replaced the older 4103L) includes two one-way remotes and doesn't have alarm features. Since my wife's 2004 Sable station wagon isn't exactly high in "vulnerability to thievery" chart, the factory alarm provides more than sufficient protection. Two-way remotes (which display on the remote once the vehicle is running) are fancier but they apparently chew through batteries rapidly. Well, I made the decision that the one-way system such as the 4103LX would be perfect for our needs. For a long time most cars have experienced additional security devices included in their keys. For this reason keys now cost $30-$300 instead of 45 cents. Installing an online starter during these vehicles requires purchasing a transponder override module which could cost yet another $25 to $80. These are typically specific towards the model of vehicle. For the Mercury I used a model PKFM from XPressKit (another Directed Electronics company). Remember that you might need both factory secrets of program the bypass for your vehicle. Some models actually require you to leave one key permanently in the unit (tough if a couple drive the vehicle) but others (such as the PKFM) just have your keys for that initial programming. Due to the complexity of putting in these items cellular phone instructions are targeted at professional installers. Read more › 27 Comments 570 of 592 people found this useful. Please try again i'm a professional installer and this really is my starter of preference. By Shaun on November 7, 2013 Style Name: 4103LX I've been an installer for fifteen years and have used DEI products whole time. It is made to be installed with a professional and should you no longer can do it, don't provide the system 1 star. there's grounds why the businesses that set them up exist, Its complicated and it will get difficult because the newer vehicles emerge. also, you cannot do 90% of recent cars with no bypass or canbus module installed combined with the remote starter. This can be a quality product and I get them organized to set up for buddies and family. The cost is excellent if you will find a pro that may perform the meet your needs. Steer clear of the $20 DYI systems, they provide great detail regarding how to perform the install but may be the average DIYer likely to understand how to wire single wire door locking system using relays/diodes and a resistors? wire a reversing polarity door locking system? Flashing a canbus module and wiring in to the sensitive systems of the push to begin? Think before you purchase, if you cannot set the time in your microwave, you should not make an effort to wire an online starter oneself.11 Comments 294 of 314 people found this useful. By Jessica Nagel on December 6, 2012 Style Name: 4103LX **I didn't install this myself so my review is dependant on cost, research, Feedback, and use** I simply to gone to live in MD and wanted to obtain a remote starter set up in my 2007 Ford Expedition prior to winter. I do *not* know anything about after market vehicle add on's (I keep my cars stock ya ya, I understand, I am boring) and was concern about buying something online but I read the reviews on , did some cost analysis among other websites, and thought, "What the heck, why don't you?" With 's amazing customer support, and for that cost this was selling for, I understood which i wasn't dealing with a risk. The installer explained this system is a superb remote start system and following a short discussion using the installer, I made the decision to obtain the rear defroster option added in to the remote start. The installer did not have any issues with this kit nor the bypass kit that I bought (Directed Electronics PKALL Encrypted Key Data Tranponder Bypass Package). He programmed some button remotes is the only remotes which i use using the vehicle therefore it locks, arms alarm, opens, open the rear door, and Remote starts. The remote is effective and includes a great radius. After I prepare to bring along my lunch for work, I simply walk where I keep my keys, push the button, and my vehicle starts up. My truck will remain on but will turn off basically press around the brake before turning my answer to really start the18 wheeler. It's set where when the truck is on, and the important thing has not been placed in to the ignition, it'll turn off by itself. Overall, I am glad I purchased this package. The price was great and the feedback I acquired in the installer was good too.5 Comments 139 of 153 people found this useful. Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... Please try again So many options By Marcus W on November 2, 2011 Style Name: 5303L I purchased this with the proximity sensor (508 D), I had been cautioned i'd get a lot of false alarms. Used to do get a lot of " warn away chirps", due to ppl with muffler issues, cats sitting near the vehicle, and even if your morning dew evaporates from the window it triggers the warn away around the alarm. in my experience, i believe the closeness sensor works too well. i am not upset, since it does what its designed to do. Alarm includes a " Valet Mode" function, where u may take your keys from the vehicle and leave the vehicle running for however many minutes its looking for. Alarm includes a silent mode, where u silence the annoying warn away, if u possess the closeness like i've. yet won't steer clear of the alarm from functioning in normal condition. Alarm has Remote Start. Alarm has Temperature sensor for interior of car which may be viewed from keyfob. Alarm includes a timer mode where u can set the vehicle to begin for each a lot of hrs and run for that minutes programed when ever remote began. Alarm has Temperature Start, for instance when the vehicles interior air temp drops below levels the automobile will begin and run for alotted time by itself. Thats simply to name a couple of things, that alone will get 5 stars for me personally. My only issue is when the warn aways alert too much (i've hooked to factory horn too) it kills my battery. so, closeness sensor can result in a lot of warn aways which could kill your battery. Obtain the closeness if u wish to keep your perp from smashing your home windows/ u possess a convertible. If you're able to afford, obtain the tilt sensor for perps that wanna tow, I did not obtain the glass break sensor if the glass is damaged and when the perp enters the automobile, the closeness will trigger the alarm. Crooks are becoming smarter so atleast begin with a security in your vehicle hopefully which makes them think hard. Read more › 1 Comment 40 of 41 people found this useful.
