I waited a couple years to buy this expecting someone (The new sony, Apple, whomever) to construct something similar to this a bit more affordable. My kids' iPods take presctiption componen with the price of this factor and do 10 occasions more things. If iPods had an AM tuner I am there could be an application that will render the Witness+ obsolete. Sorry, needed to have that little whine off my chest...
I have had mtss is a couple days now here are my first impressions. The Witness+ is smaller sized than I figured, about how big a pack of cards. The consumer interface is well considered, it had been super easy to program stations into memory and schedule tracks. I have no problems pulling in every station I listen to in my location (about 25 miles from downtown Detroit) about this radio's tuner. It also pulls in smaller sized stations I did not know existed. The instructions are very written. Recording quality is variable, easily transformed, and at greater quality levels sounds the same as live radio.
Hooking the Witness+ as much as my computer went without incident, Home windows XP recognized the system immediately. Initially when i first billed the system and switched it on, Used to do observe that the AM radio tuner wasn't working right from the start, got screeching noises. I powered it lower, flipped it to FM and to AM and it cleared up after that (unsure the precise steps I required but it really works fine now).
I'll update this review basically have anything significant to include or change, but as of this moment I am happy with the caliber of the Witness+.1 Comment Was this review useful for you? I got myself the CC Witness+ like a substitute towards the Pogo RadioYourWay AM/FM MP3 recorder, that we had owned for quite some time. I used the Pogo radio to record programming (both AM and FM) and then archive the audio I wish to save onto my computer. From the first day the RadioYourWay unit were built with a annoying glitch in recording FM and after that installing the file to the computer: The resulting audio file had 'artifacts' of random 'squawks' (it did seem like walking on the rubber duck) that I needed to frequently clip from the file to make the finish result listenable, sometimes as much as 5 or 6 artifacts each minute of audio. The AM recorded files didn't have such issues so I'm not sure whether or not this was an issue with the software or hardware using the Pogo unit.
The CC Witness+ which i purchased doesn't have such issues. both AM and FM recording files download clean in to the computer.
I've, However, experienced a problem with compatibility in installing MP3 files to some computer. When attemping to download in the CC Witness+ to some laptop with Home windows 7 Pro, the download takes as lengthy as half an hour for any 2 hour MP3 64k clip. Utilizing a laptop with Home windows XP Pro, exactly the same download takes under four minutes. (The RadioYourWay unit I've did not obtain that problem either with XP Pro or Win 7 Pro.) With my experience there appears to become a compatability problem with while using CC Witness+ with Home windows 7 Pro. Since I Have do my audio editing with my older laptop I'm able to accept it but users with Home windows 7 Pro may want to realize that this may be an issue if anybody finds a method to accelerate downloads on Win 7 Pro I am available to it. It is a result of this issue which i only provide four stars rather of 5. Read more › Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... well, I wasn't confident that I ought to publish an evaluation about this item since i have came back a defective unit and haven't made the decision if you should reorder the product. However I made the decision to go forward since i have ended up getting to sample radio stations for any couple of hrs anyway.
First, I'd state that the interface isn't bad, It's fairly intuitive and the FM reception was good but the AM reception left a great deal to be preferred. There is a substantial amount of static, despite the display function disabled and although I am merely a couple of miles because the crow flies from multiple radio towers, the signal strength was very determined by the direction the system occured. Crane's website promises their AM ferrite antenna will provide a significantly more powerful signal, but within my situation I'm not sure how that will assist the reception since the broadcast towers aren't distant from me. I suppose what I am saying is, signal strength is not my problem, clearness may be the issue.
The main reason I came back my unit happens because upon powering in the unit and switching towards the AM Band, radio stations would create a high pitched hum, before you toggled the tuning knob up or lower and then to a frequency having a station. At that time the broadcast was loud and clear (however with the formerly pointed out clearness issues). And you can record when you were built with a station using AM. The problem however was with the timers (that is the way i desired to make use of the radio). Radio stations is turned off waiting for the activation of the timer, then when it switched itself onto record, our prime pitched hum is the recording was comprised of.
One high point is the fact that tech service at Crane was quick to reply and did let me know rapidly to come back the "defective" unit. Read more › 1 Comment Was this review useful for you?
