5.0 out of 5 stars Stable, fast, Ideal for the HP N40L!!
By Ryan on The month of january 8, 2012
It has been prefect in my HP Proliant N40L Micro server. It maxes the RAM around the N40L, which for the investment is a superb buy. I've been testing various Os's with this particular configuration and the three which i have really enjoyed running are WHS 2011, Solaris 11, and FreeNAS 8..3. When utilizing FreeNAS or Solaris 11 with ZFS Storage Pools, your family will enjoy better utilization of 8GB of RAM. 8GB of RAM for WHS 2011 is a touch overboard. In most cases, for each TB of information using ZFS Storage Pools, you will want a minimum of 1GB of RAM for caching ZFS metadata, additionally to 1GB-2GB of RAM for that Operating-system. So I've got (1) SSD and (4) 2TB drives running in Solaris 11 using ZFS. And So I am performing close, but still getting great performance because I am using a partition on my SSD as a level 2 ARC cache (L2ARC).
I'd recommend this RAM to anybody than needs EEC Server Memory having a Situation Latency of 9. enjoy!Comment 11 people found this useful. Was this review useful for you? By h4x0r on March 17, 2012
I am using this unbuffered ECC ram (NOT Fully Buffered! If you want Facebook RAM, this isn't for you personally) within my home server, and it appears to become very stable. I can not say much about its performance, because I don't run any games on my small server. However, applications open rapidly and this is the maximum amount of RAM allowed by windows home server 2011Comment 2 people found this useful. Was this review useful for you? Built out a web server having a HP Proliant N40L situation. Kinston ValueRAM 8GB package at their maximum the RAM for this and have has issues! ECC RAM is essential in almost any NAS or server build and I did not wish to search hard into my wallet. The product was the right solution.Comment One individual found this useful. By jenksdrummer on November 8, 2012
I'd a N36L, sold it (rather stupid of me thinking about what I actually do as a living and the Microserver constitutes a great test platform), and now I purchased a N40L. Obviously, I want the best from this litle box, and which includes installing probably the most memory it may handle, that is a pitiful 8GB.
This memory package will the job and is dirt-cheap. I have very, hardly ever had difficulties with Kingston memory modules, though, Performance-wise, they are usually around the lower finish. Maybe this is exactly why - less aggressive using their timings...
anyhow, this is effective within the Proliant N36L and N40L.Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... Appreciate your feedback. Sorry, we unsuccessful to record your election. Please try again Report abuse 5.0 out of 5 stars Works well in my supermicro X9SCM motherboard
By kamhighway on The month of january 19, 2014
I purchased this in my first server motherboard -- a supermicro that's stated to become particularly finicky about which RAM works. I wasn't completely sure this could work after i got it, but 's refund policy provided the arrogance to test it. I am glad Used to do.Comment Was this review useful for you? By ViolentMetaphor on May 11, 2013
I personally use this RAM within my HP microserver. The server included 2GB that is a joke. My prediction is almost everybody upgraded either to 4 or 8 GB of RAM.
I am running FreeBSD 9.1 with all of ZFS filesystems. I've it packed with 4 SATA HDDs inside a RAID 1 mirror. I need a ton of RAM since ZFS could be RAM hungry. This RAM has labored great.Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... Appreciate your feedback. Sorry, we unsuccessful to record your election. By MP on October 28, 2012
You are able to opt for other brands/models and get it cheaper, but ECC helps to make the difference with regards to reliability and satisfaction. This is actually the least expensive ECC memory I possibly could find from the trustworthy manufacturer. it is effective and Includes lifetime Warranty. Make certain you check Kingston's web site to make certain this memory works with your pc system.Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... Appreciate your feedback. By Primie Customer on March 29, 2013
I made use of this memory by having an AMD type Asus motherboard that also supports ECC memory for serious and accurate accounting and scientific calculations. it performs not surprisingly and is supported by Kingston when handled appropriately through the purchaser.Comment Was this review useful for you?
