16 of 17 people found the following review helpful Leaves a little more to be desired By Ray Davis on December 31, 2012 I'm an enthusiastic Dewalt freak, I believe I own a minumum of one of just about everything they create. I'm additionally a sign contractor, and use cordless impacts and drills several occasions daily. Since most of my driving is demanding (Metal to Metal, or driving tapcon fasteners into brick) I figured it could be well worth the money. To begin with, mine included virtually no instructions whatsoever. (it is not an issue, I'm able to figure tools out good enough) after driving a couple of screws by using it I made the decision it didnt behave like anything diverse from a bulky tip holder. And So I dug the package from the garbage can and checked out the illustrations. It is made to be considered a solid drive, or perhaps a clutch drive. By sliding a diamond ring sleeve back around the tool it engages the 'clutch' mechanism. Forward may be the standard 'all effective tip stripping' goodness you purchased the tool to assist avoid. My particular choice in purchasing the tool would have been a bad one, because my ring simply didn't move. After about fifteen minutes of tapping it gently having a ball-peen I finally got the sleeve to produce lower, in to the clutch position... and it didnt appear to operate whatsoever then. It clicks the clutch off before my screws are midway within the wood more often than not. My general consensus is, if you're someone who is afraid to need to covering out a couple of dollars per week on extra drive bits, maybe this makes it worth while for you. for me personally, the frustration associated with getting to click in and to simple drive a screw isn't worth a couple of extra dollars. If you're really concerned, then possibly you need to only use the built-in clutch on the cordless drill rather of utilizing an effect. And when you drive demanding products for example brick, concrete tapcons, or lengthy wood screws - this tool won't assist you to whatsoever.Comment Was this review useful for you? It essentially eliminated cases of screws breaking. The simple on/off feature was convenient for switching the clutch off for occasions after i needed more power from my impact driver. However, after 8 several weeks of somewhat minimal off and on utilisation of the product the mechanism unsuccessful. It's stuck within the "off" position now and I am unable to switch it back on "on" matter how hard I attempt. DeWalt does not appear to possess in whatever way that i can easily contact their corporate office for warranty claims and rather wants me to visit service centers. This may not be well worth the effort for $12. I would give a different one a go sometime but for the time being I am just likely to use another thing. update: It all of a sudden began working again. My overall score stays exactly the same though as it is clearly has reliability issues. I am very happy that it is working though since I do like how it performs (if this works).Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... After I required it from the packaging, and pulled the sleeve back/toward engage the clutch, the entire sleeve just came from the device entirely. It simply slide on and off without really doing anything. Not the standard accessory I had been wishing for. We do hope you have better luck.1 Comment Was this review useful for you? By Bruno on September 25, 2014 After I bought this item, it appeared just like a really clever method to extend the achieve of my impact driver - once the situation requires it. Plus it features a clutch that can help regulate torque, right? My bits have a longer existence, too, yeah? well, maybe this is actually the situation, but I can not even take away the damn bit that's incorporated with this particular item. I believed there'd be some quick release mechanism, Much like what the outcome driver itself has. not a chance. I can not take it off with my hands alone... and I'm a pretty strong guy. My next thing is going to be brute pressure: pliers. I'll seem like a dental professional ripping out teeth. If this sounds like what is required to exchange bits within this clutch accessory, that isn't always a fatal flaw. Just forget the impact driver, out of the box, includes a nice release, and carry a set of pliers in your wallet. My bigger problem with this item is it wobbles. considerably. Whenever you consider it, This can be a design flaw: the merchandise is comparatively lengthy, and a lot of the mass is farthest in the rotation point. Physics. There should be some kind of counterbalance, otherwise... otherwise the far finish will begin to precess. This isn't a recipe for extending bit existence it is the opposite. Okay class... Can someone let me know, "What is the name of the force that inducea precession (wobble) within an otherwise stably rotating object?" Oh right. It's known as "torque." How fitting... I am unable to highlight this enough: this thing really has a tendency to start wobbling (Precessing) Unmanageable, unless of course you're careful. Maybe I've got a defective unit. However I doubt it. The accessory is inherently weight imbalanced. I'm giving this review 2 stars with the hope which i will discover some clever method to manage this. It is a great accessory in principle. Read more › 1 Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... Appreciate your feedback. If the review is inappropriate, Please tell us. I've not tried on the extender enough to state the clutch supplies a help to me but I'm able to certainly state that I do not like this the clutch does not release the part easily. I must use pliers to accept bit out. I could have been much more happy having a "less secure" bit attachment that enables taking out the part by hands. This explains why I've not used the clutch much: it's an excessive amount of an inconvenience to make use of.Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback...
