By kwb on October 1, 2011 I purchased this for just one of my children, and was impressed. This can be a very fundamental telescope package, but It will what it's designed to perfectly, and is an extremely good value.
If you won't want to spend more money than 100 dollars but want some magnificent moon view and reasonable planet/nebula observation, e.G. when you are testing the flavour of the kid, Go for this. This gives you some truly breathtaking experience.
Just to ensure you get ideas of what to anticipate, the Moon is actually, really detailed and sharp. Jupiter is really a small colored blob and its four moons are small vibrant white-colored dots. They are gorgeous.
I've some success taking photos from the moon through this telescope using my dslr.
If you want to observe additional information such as the gap in Saturn's ring and Jupiter's us dot and Whatnot, you'll need a bigger telescope.
I am not too astounded by the mount, thus 4 stars, Not 5. it really works, it does not wobble so far as you do not touch, but its backlash/play/stickiness isn't small, and you have to learn how to deal with it. It can make things trickier than necessary.
Overall, I am astounded by what you can purchase with 100 dollars.
Incidentally, whatever the telescope you've, you have to constantly adjust the pointing. That isn't the telescope's fault, it is simply that you are searching at this type of small area of the sky the Earth's rotation pushes the star from your view pretty rapidly.
Should you hate constantly modifying things, you may want a telescope having a computerized mount. These is more expensive, but not ridiculously so, and they'll instantly find and track stars for you personally.
To ensure you get perspective, Earth's one revolution each day means.25 levels each minute, while an position created by full moon's diameter and your telescope is over.5 levels.Comment Was this review useful for you? This can be a excellent telescope for that cost. I have always heard you receive what you have to pay for with telescopes. Now this the first is very economical and Works wonderfully. Easy set up, 2 different eye pieces and the EZ finder rocks !. We bought this for the Boy for christmas and he loves it. We were actually able to see Mars (which appeared as if just a little orange moon)and Saturn. That have alone was worthwhile. I recommend this scope.1 Comment Was this review useful for you? By Customer on November 29, 2010 This can be a wonderful telescope! I haven't had one since i have would be a kid and being on a tight budget used to do a lot of research before finally buying. The telescope is simple to place togeather. The redot sight is useful for finding things once its setup. I could view Jupiter and four of their moons and also write out 1 of their bands. A moon/planet filter might help enhance more detail.Stars can look is great tight pinpoints of sunshine. No moon viewing yet. I had been also able to get NGC 1977 from Orion's belt perfectly, it were built with a blueish haze. I could hit the M110 Universe orbiting the Andromeda Universe and it had been very easy to understand. I am i might have found far more things with this particular telescope if perhaps i'd more experience. But simply a couple of ours under my belt this telescope continues to be calling my name to create it outdoors. There was a substantial amount of dew around the outdoors from the tube and around the redot sight because the night continued departing the redot a little hard to use do in order to a halo effect but the image within the telescope's eyepeice maintained VERY obvious. The stand is extremely sturdy, when you forget about the telescope the vista is stablized very rapidly. It included great software. and also two eye peices which were x28 and x70 magnification. I can not wait conserve some money to obtain another Orion telescope.Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... By skygeezer on June 1, 2012 This little scope is very able to showing you plenty of objects that has a lot better detail than you may expect from the 3" mirror. I've several bigger scopes but a lot of the time I've found myself heading out of the door with this particular little 3"! it weighs in at next to nothing and is quick and easy to setup. The small alt-azimuth mount is fairly fundamental but works acceptably well with this particular lightweight scope. The incorporated eyepieces work nicely along with the red-us dot pointer. The sport Now i play would be to see what I'm able to identify with this particular little scope, frequently it surprises me by seeing deep sky objects I would not have thought easy to see in this small scope. The moon looks awesome within this scope, if you want to consider the moon and planets the small scope delivers excellent views. Overall a surprisingly good telescope for this type of small investment.1 Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... By David on September 12, 2011
A great beginner telescope. Take it from me .... A novice. I'm still learning this astronomy factor, but I'm getting a lot fun with this particular telescope. It took me about 30 - 45 minutes to assemble (with 3 kids hanging throughout me) and I was looking at stuff upside down right away (reflector scopes switch the immage). Stuff=satellite dishes on neighbors homes and I even swept up for an plane on the horizon using the simple to use alt azimuth stand that it arrives with. I lately travelled by using it, and it had been super easy to consider lower, pack and reassemble inside my location.
The pictures which i look out of each of the attention pieces this scope includes are very obvious. Seeing the craters around the moon with this much clearness is amazing. I've not become to determine Saturn yet, but I can not wait to suggest this factor towards all of the planets.
also, the program that is included with this scope is actually simple to use and causes it to be fun to test and understand the names from the stars I'm searching at on the horizon.
If you're searching for any starter telescope, This is actually the one. Your search is over. (unless of course you need to apply it terrestrial viewing, by which situation the upside lower factor may not exercise very well)Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback...
