By Trip Mitchell on May 28, 2005 I have used one of these simple thermostats for more than ten years, and i have didn't have any reptile product which I have enjoyed a lot. very easy to setup and Use, this unit allows you to cycle a heat lamp or ceramic heater (or perhaps a matt or heat tape for instance) on and off in the optimal temperature. It is simple to place it to show off in a lower temperature for any night drop, essential for many species. Readily stored away extremely simple to mount, and the probe reaches the finish of the lengthy, thin black cord that is completely inconspicuous in almost any terrarium or cage setting.Comment Was this review useful for you? I purchased this being an addition for our hedge-hogs heat lamp. It's essentially an on/off switch that controls the mind lamp with respect to the temperature in her own home and it's working all right.Comment Was this review useful for you? Zoo Mediterranean is usually a reliable brand. To date the corporation has not really allow me to lower by stretch. Things I loved most relating to this gadget only agreed to be how simply and efficient it's. After I adjusted my temperature at 90 levels, it wouldn't allow fluctuation or anything like that (sparring 1 degree). so generally, it will not go wrong and comes in an awesome cost too. Its adhesive can also be very helpful, stays with the terrarium very well so it's not necessary to be worried about it falling or anything, yet can be taken off if you want.
The probe is inconspicuous and simply slides in to the terrarium, stays around the warm finish and keeps things smooth. It's lengthy enough too.
The only real factor 'wrong' with this particular thermostat is always that it is not digital, which is silly and might take a while to adjust (about half an hour) and make certain you have it in the right temperature. You'll need a thermometer with this particular factor, otherwise you could finish up which makes it hot or too awesome for the animal.Comment Was this review useful for you? I personally use an electronic thermometer to watch the high temperature within my double-walled, insulated turtle house and the 500R thermostat keeps the high temperature setting to within 1 amount of my setting. Setting it up right initially required a little bit of effort because I needed to watch the high temperature to have an hour approximately to make certain it had been right. I love the cover that belongs to the look.Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... Appreciate your feedback. If the review is inappropriate, Please tell us. The Reptitemp 500R does a great job of keeping my snake's cage a regular temperature. I has 2 outlets to plug heating devices into. The cover doesn't fit on perfectly, but I do not require it. I love it has Velcro to connect the thermostat aside from the cage in order that it can be taken off and reapplied. The main one factor I do not like would be that the temperature dial has only a multi-colored strip to exhibit how low or high it's. There aren't any figures to help you on where you can set the dial. Another reptile thermostat I'd had a numbered dial and It was convenient. I remedied the problem while on an indoor/outside thermometer and set that probe near the Reptitemp probe to verify the high temperature. This is the way I understand the Reptitemp is consistent to keep exactly the same temperature.Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... by J. Murdock on April 6, 2009
The package states that it'll "give you precise temperature control within the plethora of 70 F to 110 F". mine, set to the lowest setting (which in my experience ought to be 70 F) doesn't stop until 89 F. There's nothing precise about 19 levels within the set point. I'm very disappointed with this particular product and desire a refund. According to my knowledge about another Zoo Mediterranean products I got myself by using it, Zoo Mediterranean wouldn't be my first brand choice later on either.4 Comments Was this review useful for you? By Dan on October 15, 2012
I got myself three of those regulators in my bigger terrariums, and the 3 unsuccessful within 2 yrs, just from warranty.
These could be advantageous if your) They'd a suitable lifespan, and b) When they were created such you could select a temperature range for that default setting. When selecting your chosen temperature, one must guess how hot to create it and modify as time passes. If it were able to show a range (70 - 75 levels, ETC.) instead of the awesome-to-warm color gradient around the dial, It could be a lot more helpful. the 3 unsuccessful within 2 yrs, and I shan't be replacing them.Comment Was this review useful for you?
