I'm not going or need all the details the greater-finish Garmins provide, then when this less costly version arrived on the scene I purchased it when it had been available. I have done two rides by using it to date, and it really works as marketed. It's not a problem obtaining satellites, even with many different trees around. When I examine the track closely I can see there are points where it loses the signal (there are numerous trees where we ride) and then picks up again. The giveaway is the fact that between individuals two points there's straight line which has us dealing with structures in instances where we designed a turn as the signal was lost. But overall I'd say it's 98% accurate and the rate and distance figures I believe tend to be better than these computer. Clearly it takes no calibration, eliminating the errors natural for the reason that process. Uploading towards the Garmin web site is super easy once you have registered and installed their interface inside your browser. The consumer interface is extremely fundamental and clear to see. It can save you a ride like a course and download it to the unit so the the next time you accomplish that same ride you will get real-time comparison. I've not attempted that yet. Garmin states battery existence is 14 hrs. With different 2-hour ride that left 86% from the charge within the battery I'd say that's likely accurate. When switched off it doesn't seem to lose any one of its charge whatsoever after being off per week it had been still 100%. The end result is it works just as marketed, and gives continuous speed and altitude information for the whole ride. Additionally, it informs moving time, overall time, Average Speed, average moving speed and calories burned (you enter in how old you are, height and weight). This really is all I needed, and the cost is affordable. I am happy by using it. Read more › 5 Comments Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... By kurtis on The month of january 27, 2012 Package Type: Standard Packaging Overview :
I have used the advantage 200 for roughly 6 days and overall I am happy by using it despite a few minor complaints. Prior to the Edge I used to be utilizing a Garmin 60CSx and/or perhaps a fundamental wired bike computer but I began feeling the 60CSx was overkill for almost all my riding. It had been additionally a bit large and uncovered for additional aggressive riding. In the end I decided I wanted something that recorded some basic metrics (miles per hour, distance, record several rides, ETC.) which i could easily take bike to bike and the advantage 200 appeared just like a viable contender after i began prices mid-level wireless computers., especially since i have would gain the opportunity to track rides and do courses.
A Few Things I Like/Observations/General Info.:
-Battery existence: The meter read around 80% following a 2.5+hr XC ride and 1hr push & 10min DH run. I've not observed any battery drain after not while using unit for around two days. This calculates to around 17.5 +/- hrs before a recharge is required, very respectable for any small gps navigation unit.
-Mounts: 2 mounts, 4 small bands, and 4 medium/large bands. 2 bands are essential per mount. The little bands work nicely for handlebars and the mid-portion of a stem. The bigger bands work nicely for thicker parts for example mounting in which the stem and handlebar mate or even the top tube. (I extended the bands greater than I figured was possible to get these to fit the oversized top tube of my DH bike and they have organized and not clicked after 4+days. Begin to see the images for reference.) I have not used at all rubber bands such as this before and I am very impressed. I'd like the choice to purchase some bands which are even bigger as that will enable even safer mounting locations on my small DH bike.
-Satellite connection/reception is excellent to date it locates itself inside a minute. Read more › 2 Comments Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... By BW987 on September 17, 2012 Package Type: Standard Packaging
I am a new comer to road cycling and I've been while using Garmin Edge 200 for pretty much three several weeks. I've found it an excellent, fairly affordable tool for tracking my cycling progress.
The 200 is really a small unit but the screen is obvious and sharp and I've little difficulty studying the information when connected to the stem publish of my handles. It tracks distance, time, and speed around the primary screen with a range of another data point...say average speed or elevation or calaories burned. (obviously a quote)
You are able to set the 200 to signal lap occasions, for instance I personally use it to inform me how lengthy has each 2.5 mile segment taken throughout a ride. It will help with pacing myself after i attempt longer rides. it's very simple to use and I haven't had one issue in three several weeks by using it syncing outdoors. It finds my position within seconds and I have not once lost the signal despite the fact that I ride in certain heavily wooded areas. This appears to become a strong positive for that unit over another Garmin devices.
Another positive may be the mounting system. Its Secure and Simple to use. The Garmin 200 includes two mounts so you can easily move between bikes. Additional mounts can be found here on at inexpensive price points.
Battery existence is excellent.
After each ride you are able to download the ride data to Garmin-connect, Mapmyride or Strava (along with other sites) to obtain detailed data regarding your rides. Gps navigation, Elevation, total time, Riding time, power (from Strava). I personally use a Mac and It really works well.
One of the things which i have really arrived at like is the opportunity to download a training course towards the Garmin and stick to the small breadcrumb trail within the screen.
