Lasted two days then broke
By Derek Stewart on August 22, 2011
I purchased this sanding block to really make it simpler to sand a few decks on my small summer time cabin.
With the nail and screw heads in the surface, I did not desire to use a belt sander and figured the Sand Demon will be the perfect tool.
It performed fairly well on the very first day, after that time the 2nd day the tightening bar broke.
It consists of cheap brittle plastic and clicked in 2 places throughout a sandpaper change.
Been with them been metallic, I believe the sanding block would serve you for a lifetime.
Regardless, once it broke, there wasn't any tension around the sandpaper and the block was useless.
This left me in the center of employment, nowhere near town, having a busted bit of junk.
Fortunately I'd my twenty-five year old sanding block, which after cutting the belt sander paper towards the appropriate size, did all right.
Make an effort to, don't waste your hard earned money about this factor. Just have an old-school sanding block.Comment 6 of 6 people found this useful. Was this review useful for you? by C. r. On May 4, 2009 This tools will get more then 5 stars from me. I'm a professional finish carpenter, and I've all of the proper tools for sanding, but sometimes you'll need a soft touch. Or sometimes you've just got just a little sanding to complete. This sander uses exactly the same size belt since many common electric sanders, so you do not need any special paper. The rounded corner from the sand demon is the best size for sanding items to accomodate bull nose corner bead. It features a good grip, and you are able to change paper very quickly.
I suggest this for everybody.Comment 6 of 6 people found this useful. Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... Appreciate your feedback. If the review is inappropriate, Please tell us. Sorry, we unsuccessful to record your election. Please try again do not buy!
By Charlie on August 7, 2013 I purchased the Sand Demon at the end of March of 2013 with great expectations. The tightening lover broke after four several weeks of usage. It isn't like I made use of it every single day. I am only a beginning woodworker/hobbyist. The look is excellent, but the plastic-type employed for the tightening lever is affordable plastic. I have to admit my excitement went from 10 to some 1.
Incidentally, I authored the organization relating to this problem, asking when they could offer whether substitute or perhaps a fix. To date, no response. What you know already that because the tightening lever will get a lot use, they'd allow it to be from better material, like metal! duh!Comment 5 of 5 people found this useful. Excellent geometry for a number of sanding applications. Perhaps a little costly thinking about its produced from plastic such as the locking lever which can break. For proper care of your tools you ought to be fine. The large convenience is the simplicity of altering and modifying belts. Certainly worth owning.
update: My fear came true. After minimal use (maybe 10-20 occasions) and only swapping out sanding belts a number of occasions the plastic lever unsuccessful. I'd pay a bit more for version having a metal locking lever. Don't waste your hard earned money about this product.Comment 3 of three people found this useful. Was this review useful for you? This can be a wonderful accessory for anyone's tool collection. One excellent use with this tool would be to knock a small bevel on door edges after planing them lower. Helps place a perfect crispy advantage on almost anything. I really like the best way to release the lock to rotate the belt to obtain fresh paper. No longer can do that simply on the home built sanding block. There is no pinching the sandpaper required to contain the sandpaper on the market while you are working. Anywhere my belt sander goes, the Sand-Demon follows. I gifted a friend (and fellow tool-oholic) with one after he ogled it.Comment 2 of two people found this useful. Was this review useful for you? By mark simpson on September 17, 2014 Wise decision. low quality. Other reviews say the same thing . The lever that appears like aluminum is actually plastic. It broke around the fifth sanding belt change. Been dealing with wood for 4 decades which means this wasn't user error. I made use of the best belt and tried on the extender the proper way... It is simply cheap. If the factor is made right I'd provide 5 stars and buy another. The concept is definitely an heirloom woodworking tool idea... whether it lasted... However It Will not... it cannot.Comment 2 of two people found this useful. Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... I have used sanding blocks my existence. I made my very own and used the purchased ones. I attempted all of them and the sandpaper never was truly taut and flat. This is actually the first sanding block I like using. I purchased some 3M crimson regalite and the this combo rocks. Will no longer i must pinch the sandpaper with my fingers to test and ensure that it stays flat. I simply concentrate on sanding the top now. I personally use a sanding belt eraser if this becomes dirty and it's like new. I recommend the crimson regalite too. I've got a 80 grit belt on my small Rigid oscillating belt sander for more than 6 several weeks now and it need not be altered yet. Imagine how lengthy it'll last within this sanding block. The Sand demon will get two thumbs up out of this woodworker. This is a connect to the crimson sandpaper. http://world wide web.Amazon . com.com/3M-81403-21-Inch-Regalite-Sanding/dp/B0000223RU/ref=pd_cp_hi_1Comment 3 of four people found this useful. By Douglas Hazelwood on October 16, 2014
Nicely created tool and Very handy, but not well performed. I use it on the job (woodworking) but a fantasy heavily. After 3 several weeks the lever that opens and closes the factor just clicked off inside. No fixing it. Ends up the lever set up is quite thin plastic, will get jammed track of sawdust which creates much more friction that it may handle and Then, tragedy when you attend open it up. I'll observe how lengthy the second I acquired lasts beside me fostering to fly out dust in the lever thingy. Will publish again in the event that one surrenders the ghost...Comment 1 of just one people found this useful. Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback...
