36 of 37 people found the following review helpful Identical to Schlage sensor
By Melsman on June 25, 2014 Size: Pack of 1
I have already installed six from the Schlage sensors and am happy together. However I was disappointed to locate that they are no more Prime qualified and had bumped in cost. I Quickly found these Ecolink sensors which looked suspiciously such as the Schlage sensors - filled with the brown/white-colored trim options. so, I purchased three... and they're the identical device inside a different box! Exact same circuit board inside, same trim plastics around the outdoors same device. Just CHEAPER and available via Prime. a no-brainer.Comment Was this review useful for you? by T. Gaydos on August 18, 2014 Size: Pack of 1
I've 7 of those merged with my SmartThings hub to watch the doorways and windows (1 traditional door, 1 slider, 5 home windows) on my small bottom floor. I've discovered these to possess a wider contact range compared to SmartThings Multi Sensor. The Ecolink is just a wide openOrnear sensor, However, and doesn't have the Multi's temp and tilt abilities.
Many of these sensors paired rapidly and easily, however two or three needed me to accept battery out for any couple of minutes, then change it. I additionally rebooted the ST hub process, who have removed up any pairing issues. Since pairing, have the ability to continued to be connected and responsive. The farthest the first is about 35 ft in the hub and one floor below.
I mounted many of these sensors using the double-sided tape which was incorporated. Both pieces are extremely light which i don't anticipate any difficulties with the tape versus. screws. Time will inform, I Guess. Save the screws just in situation. I've mounted both in horizontal and vertical positions on home windows and doorways. As lengthy because the two pieces fall into line correctly and are roughly inside an inch of each other, Get Up. A couple of placements possess the two sensor pieces a complete inch apart and still function even if your storm window is dropped among the sensor and your window itself.
If you want fundamental open/close sensors on the Z-Wave network, these is adequate.Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... By Mark R on March 13, 2015 Size: Pack of 1
The ecolink sensors are ideal for anybody with a pre-existing home security system. Rather of placing these big honkers on every window or door, make use of the pre-existing wiring to identify open/close. Any house having a hard-wired system may have some reed sensors wired into some doorways and home windows. Knowing which zones are which, it is simple to wire these to these in the home security system box stashed inside a closet somewhere. There's two eco-friendly screw-lower wire mounts which are exactly that easy to wire in. Simply take away the wires from whichever zone, mount in to the Ecolink sensor and test. I got all of my doorways wired in to these effortlessly. I additionally mounted one on the sliding clear glass door which had no sensor, and was super easy to set up. There's double sided tape, screws, and alternate brown covers incorporated with every unit.
I personally use the SmartThings platform and I experienced some minor pairing issues with some units. However, With a few persistence and continuous tries, every unit paired. They are operated by a CR123 battery, and is monitored using your system. Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... By D. Stein on This summer 22, 2014 Size: Pack of 1
When you are accustomed to the type of cool hit and miss inclusion method that is typical to any or all three from the Ecolink Z-Wave devices, there's not really a lot more you can ask from their store. I have paired them as much as both Vera Lite and Smartthings and with hubs, I have sometimes "half incorporated", I'm not sure how else to explain it, among the devices in which the only remedy appeared to become excluding, adopted with a second attempt for including. Regardless, I have didn't have one not work after a little quantity of fiddling around. Once up and running they are reliable, never missing a visit, never seeming to build up neighbor or routing issues, and with very good battery performance as well. Although this next point might not affect lots of, within my home is super appreciated that the brownish housing is incorporated. Where we've stained dark wood trim, it greatly reduces how noticeable the unit is. Should you made a decision to not screw mount the 2 pieces and rather choose a double sided tape solution, the incorporated tape is going to do just for climate controlled inside locations. I installed one of these simple within a basement steel Bilco door, and My home is the northeast great ponds area - hot damp summers, cold dry winters. I did not even provide the incorporated tape a go there and rather chosen some 3M Extreme that has help up nicely.4 Comments Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... By YKC on December 8, 2014 Size: Pack of 1
I've attempted 6 door/window open sensors: (1) Aeon Labs Aeotec Z-Wave Door/Window Sensor, (2) Ecolink Z-Wave Door/Window Sensor, (3) Everspring Z-Wave Door/Window Sensor, (4) Philio multi sensor (Proprietary), (5) Schlage Z-Wave Door and Window Sensor, and (6) SmartThings SmartSense Zigbee Multi Sensor.
Aeon Labs' sensor has tiniest Form Factor. Ecolink and Schlage are nearly identical. (Their motion sensors are nearly identical. I suppose they share exactly the same manufacturer.) Everyspring, For me, is insanely large. Philio is really a multi-sensor. Regrettably, it might not be smart to possess a PIR motion sensor on a single sensor because the open/close sensor. If I've got a curtain or window blind, then your PIR motion sensor is going to be useless. SmartThings is affordable when it comes to size and Form Factor, but Regrettably, it's very cost. personally, I will recommend Aeon Labs' sensor because of its Form Factor.1 Comment Was this review useful for you?
