By Gene Ulmer on December 18, 2011
Bought this sensor to choose 2 EarthLEDs,also from , to exchange a sensor that does not use Brought bulbs. This sensor is precisely what I needed, Simple operation, just 2 adjustment knobs, 1 to manage sensitivity and 1 to regulate the timer, for the way lengthy you would like the bulbs to remain on.No test setting switch needed since the sensor instantly adopts a stroll test mode if this receives power, for around a few minutes, this works in daylight or night for modifying the system for correct operation. Works much like I desired, activating 2 LEDs in fixtures on each side of my garage doors, no false switch on from cars passing by, just perhaps a dog that wonders lower our front yard sets them back, it really works from sensing a heat emitting body. I'm able to recommend this sensor, despite CFL bulbs.Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... Appreciate your feedback. If the review is inappropriate, Please tell us. I like this unit sticks wild from the base. Bulb housing adjustments aren't restricted through the sensor. After installation 43" above my deck surface and the inability to trip the sensor, Leviton advised me the kodak playtouch camcorder should be installed 10' above area being surveyed for motion. I'll save the kodak playtouch camcorder for any new installation above my garage. I've replaced this unit with a Heath/Zenith sensor ( also about 425 ) which does identify motion directly in-front. This unit has 4 wires ( unlike the Heath which has 3 ) Just bind one blue using the black towards the existing HOT black / another blue towards the lLOAD black / white-colored to white-colored. Basically identical wiring to Heath's three wire installation.2 Comments Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... I installed 13 of those throughout my property about 1 1/24 months ago. Yes, it sounds excessive, but I no more have to grab a flash light when wandering about outdoors. Sweet! My garage is detached, there alone are 4 walls to place a minimum of 4 lights on. Yes, 13 sensors aren't cheap, but my install labor was free.
By continuing to keep the sunshine switches within the ON position, my light sensors are energized 24/7. During the night the sensors turn lights on and off when i walk before them. Throughout the day they simply wallow in it and maintain their lights off. This really is what the majority of us need.
These sensors are bulkier compared to cheapo ones I'd before. I'm able to only think that this really is purposeful in design. I am sure Leviton might have built them into smaller sized if there wasn't valid reason for that bigger frame. Perhaps a bigger frame enables for additional sensor area and better electronics? Perhaps a smaller sized, as well working sensor would turn it into a much more costly? I dunno. But I know that I like these sensors. I am wishing they last a long time. my old, cheap sensors unsuccessful when their translucent face covers deteriorated, or before that. I suppose the sun's rays cooked them. I contacted Leviton to inquire about basically can replace my sensors' face shields once they deteriorate. Their answer was they don't auction the shields individually. I really hope to locate a appropriate substitute material when I am made to.
The majority of my sensors are set up 6-10 ft high. I've 2 sensors which are up greater and point almost straight lower. These don't activate too. I suppose I am pushing individuals 2 beyond their design.
My home is Los Angeles. Heavy night time rainstorms activate a number of my sensors. I simply switch them off. I suppose I'm able to wreck havoc on their sensitivity setting, but it rarely rains heavy here. Read more › Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... By Erik Rumbaugh on December 2, 2010
I wired this motion detector, to two 150w Halogen floodlights and photo cell(therefore it only turns the lights on during the night), I mounted the motion detector and one floodlight around the far finish of my courtyard and one light close to the back gate, although it was more work Personally i think it lights the region a lot better than just one set of floods/motion recognition might have if I needed to mount them in a single. The detector is quite large, but appears perfectly designed for the price, and is extremely reliable that we think about a must for just about any security product.

By ML on June 30, 2014
Item has 2 simple controls, one for sensitivity, and another for light duration. Around the downside, its range is restricted, greater than I was expecting despite the fact that it's marketed at just 110 levels. Item has maybe 500 square ft of coverage. The sunshine only operates instantly at night. There are several individuals who say otherwise. These folks should think about studying the instructions as initially when switched on in the breaker it runs for ten minutes inside a test mode that disregards the sunshine conditions. I believe that this type of person easily confused.Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... Appreciate your feedback. If the review is inappropriate, Please tell us. This works as marketed although the instructions are mediocre with really confusing wiring schematics. This specific version doesn't have an easy setting therefore it goes on during daylight hrs - neither is that mentioned within the Amazon . com blurb - but I suppose I ought to have checked out the Leviton website too - my bad.1 Comment Was this review useful for you? This can be a simple sensor. It's big enough to protrude beyond the lights. I made use of it to exchange the Heath Zenith security light sensor which may not turn off the lights once i replaced the floodlights with dimmeable Brought Security bulbs.Comment Was this review useful for you? By jay on August 15, 2015
I order this Outside Occupancy Sensor and it might only seriously for that initial time and wouldn't use the detector for free I attempted swapping wires and problem solving and nothing labored. Purchased one for substitute and If this showed up and I had been unpacking it there is some form of solid plastic cover within the opaque light viewing window that will block all light from letting it work. I am sure it had been the issue with the first. Who'd cover a sensor window having a solid window cover that appears just like a window. Hopefully this helps another person. Every aggravating.Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... Appreciate your feedback. If the review is inappropriate, Please tell us.
