Boasting an acoustically balanced wooden enclosure and a superior front-firing 3-inch speaker, the Sangean WR-2 tabletop radio provides the seem and options that come with a family room system inside a cabinet that matches easily inside a bed room, Kitchen, or garage. Any discussion from the WR-2 starts with its black wooden housing, that is wealthy both in appearance and Tone. The cabinet's front surface features the speaker around the left side, a number of without effort placed control buttons toward the underside, and a generously sized Liquid crystal display in the centre with three brightness levels. more to the point, your cabinet teams using the 7-watt amplifier and the acoustic bass compensation system to include warmth and depth towards the audio. Complementing the housing is Sangean's advanced RF/IF electronic circuitry, which accumulates distant AM and FM stations and reproduces all of them with unmatched clearness, making music and even talk programs come to life.

Although the WR-2 is marketed being an AM/Radio, it provides even more than a typical digital tuner, including a Radio Data System (RDS) that displays short texts on relevant FM stations, along with support for the Enhanced Other Network (EON) and its traffic information (obtainable in certain regions). And in contrast to most tabletop radios, the WR-2 lets listeners adjust the treble and bass levels through the variable volume control. In the default mode, the rotary volume knob displays the amount level from 1 to 60. Tap it once, However, and it becomes a full-range treble control, and two taps results in a full-range bass control. Additional features include a clock with an alarm (radio or buzzer), an auxiliary input jack for connecting such devices as an iPod or MP3 player (each of which seem great with the speaker), a recording output jack, 10 memory presets which help you rapidly find your preferred stations, and a complete-featured infrared handheld remote control.

Your final bonus comes from the ability backup function, which plays the radio for six minutes during a power failure (Ideal for problems) and maintains the memory preset and clock values for around an hour. The WR-2 measures roughly 9.5 by 4.5 by 6 inches (W x H x D) and Weighs in at 5.5 pounds.

By M. JEFFREY MCMAHON TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE VOICE on August 20, 2005 Color: Black
This can be a very appealing clock radio with digital readout that provides you name of song, artist, and additional information while you listen. The mono aural speaker is warm and Full. Radio stations is of interest, Solid and Well-built, evincing nothing cheap or plastic-laden. The AM is excellent. Most FM stations are available in strong. But hard-to-get FM stations like 89.3 from Pasadena (I live 40 miles away in Torrance) mandates that I slowly move the FM antenna, but This isn't an issue, only a nitpick.
Most listeners will like the WR-2. But when you are an invisible buff like I'm and benefit from the outstanding FM reception from the Grundig S350, the Kaito 1101 and 1103 models (known as Degen in China), then I am afraid the WR-2 will dissatisfy. To become fair towards the WR-2, the greater costly Bose radio suffers exactly the same problem of mediocre FM reception.
another essential point: As this radio includes a handheld remote control, it really works great inside your computer office. You can preserve the WR-2 six ft approximately from your computer and avoid interference while you toggle stations and volume together with your remote.
Publish script: Make certain to show around the exterior antenna switch at the back of the Sangean. It improves reception by tenfold.
update: I bought a second WR-2 (in black) 3 years following the first and get excellent FM reception so apparently radio stations has improved in newer models. New Rating: 5 stars.

The on/off button has become sticky so activating radio stations takes multiple presses. I'm able to decrease the stickiness problem by spraying Deoxit on the Q-tip and dabbing it round the on-off button. Exactly the same pertains to the preset buttons. actually, I have had this radio let's focus on near to many years.12 Comments Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... By Richard Singer on August 25, 2006 Color: Walnut
I researched lots of clock radios, including models from Tivoli, Boston Acoustic, Cambridge Soundworks, bose, Proton/Sangean, and made the decision about this unit for an additional reasons: stereo headphone jack line set for MP3 front(versus. Top-mounted) 3" speaker programmable, digital tuning digital clock. in my opinion, it's oxymoronic to anticipate stereo loudspeakers on the compact clock radio--readily stored away on my small night table and I don't know the way i can see stereo separation considering that configuration however, I actually do desire stereo headphone capacity, that the unit delivers. After I resided in Nh, I'd very couple of stations to hear, because of poor reception, regardless of the exterior FM antenna. Now that i'm within the metro Boston area, I don't find reception to matter. I have not had the ability to set my clock instantly using the RDS, but Another features, i.e. song title, artist, radio station work satisfactorily. I believe the seem of readily stored away superb, but it might be interesting to perform a alongside aural match up against a few of the above-pointed out units.
A few complaints:
1)Alarm set/disable is needlessly complicated. Yes, I understand how to get it done, but any system that needs you to definitely consult anyone's manual for any refresher regarding how to disable the alarm...well, all I can say is give me a toggle switch (virtual or else).
2) The display defaults towards the rf. I believe this really is ill-considered: I rarely change stations, and so i know what I am hearing however, I'm not sure what time that it is until I toggle to time around the display. I do not have that.
A few days ago my spouse and I were busy having a project within the bed room--installing Container Store closet systems--and that i performed my Dell Jukebox Music player with the unit. By Darryl Pierce on May 31, 2006 Color: Walnut There's a lot I possibly could say relating to this radio, but in a nutshell it really works perfectly as explained the maker and Better still. It had been purchased like a substitute to have an Under counter GE Radio/CD Player. I tried a couple of other radios ( Crosley, Emerson, The new sony) Not one of them could fill the area such as this one. However, probably the most impressive feature in my experience is it could get our favorite stations with little effort. I unpacked radio stations within my basement, where reception is terrible unless you use an external ( Outside antenna), and this radio pulled in any stations.
The RDS function is ideal for seeing the titles of songs playing and Station IDs on some stations. I haven't yet visit a station really broadcasting traffic reports within the Atlanta area, but it's nice to achieve the capacity to determine them when they do start broadcasting traffic data.
For Seem Quality, it is always good.. Radio Stations could be a little heavy around the bass, I needed to transform it lower a few notches within our kitchen. ( Radio stations sits inside a corner,( which boosts bass)and I needed to boost the treble, Which that you can do through the volume control around the radio or even the handheld remote control.
Radio stations has automatic time setting feature through the RDS system. Additionally, it includes a power loss recovery system. Radio is constantly on the function for around 6 minutes without any AC. the time and memory settings are retained longer. Radio Stations is rather simple, though it has more buttons than the usual Tivoli, or Crosley, it's still simple to operate.
The table radio is really a fast growing segment of electronics because of the Ipod device. I've come across a couple of models emerge which i may have considered had they been available, but I'm happy using the WR-2.2 Comments Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback...
