Good Idea, poor design, Awful Support
By Wild Boar Ranch on December 1, 2011
Purchased the tripod, and am now waiting for my 3rd substitute. The Brass screw that mates the tripod towards the base the panels affix to won't thread together.
I known as and Goal Zero stated they'd a producing problem and needed their inventory re threaded, although some people might distributors had yet to exchange their old inventory and I have to have obtained certainly one of individuals older products. They stated I ought to obtain a substitute within 1 week, 1 week switched into two....after i known as back they stated they'd not shipped a substitute and there was no problem using the device. After I introduced up what they'd pointed out formerly, they stated they'd misspoke and there is no problem using the units...
The support supplied by Goal Zero is completely terrible. Keeping them take possession is tough, and they aren't thinking about resolving rapidly. They explained there was no problem using the tripod, and it had been just difficult to screw in position. 6'2" @ 250lbs having a wrench and I possibly could not have it to thread...they said there was nothing wrong (again without seeing) and declined to transmit a substitute.
The concept for that method is necessary, particularly should you purchased several Goal Zero solar power panels, when i had. The caliber of the merchandise is okay except for the 2 pieces that thread together. For products which are marketed as portable and for use within the field, the standard is actually bad, and the support is a few of the worst I have ever experienced.3 Comments 34 of 35 people found this useful. By freedom1969 on December 8, 2011
Purchased tripod to choose my Extream 350 package. It showed up without any instructions but was simple to determine. The Bottom the panels are meant to mount to comes with an oblong circle where it's supposed to connect towards the base and Won't attach. It made an appearance the hole was machined incorrectly. I contacted GoalZero and had them swap the part that does not working. After shipping the product to them I needed to refer to them as after several days of hearing nothing away from these to encourage them to switch the part. Upon finding the new part it had been almost like the one which I submitted initially and didn't work. The problem appears to be with production (presuming they did actually send us a new part). I wouldn't but It can and I highly recommend that others stay obvious of the item.
Besides the part not work GoalZero doesn't have real customer care and doesn't seem to be thinking about fixing the issue.1 Comment 28 of 30 people found this useful. Was this review useful for you? By D. D'Eugenio on November 9, 2012 I just read all of the reviews and According to what I just read I had been reluctant to purchase. However, understanding that I'd have 's support should there is an issue that could not be resolved using the vendor, I made a decision to purchase Goal Zero. I am glad Used to do. First, the tripod does not need instructions unless of course you haven't seen a tripod before!
second, the panel clips take time and effort to utilize until it becomes clear that they 'clamp down' facing center flat from the panel. You need to be certain to push the middle locking pin around the clamp completely though both panels or even the panel and Tripod support. After you have the clip completely though lock it lower.
Whenever you clamp the clip you will see the middle lock. Make use secure it in position.
The clamp is extremely tight but necessary, in the end you wouldn't want the clips to become anything but tight. -You wouldn't want the panel to fall in the tripod and possibly get broken! -
Aside I got myself the aim Zero BONUS Yeti 1250 Solar Generator Package with cart, (4) Boulder 30 solar power panels, (2) panel transporting cases, (1) Solar Tripod (holds 4 panels), 3 Light a Existence Lanterns, (10) Boulder Clips.
The machine is extremely pricy but Complete. It ought to have better instructions but because of Youtube you will have video instructions to look at.
My only frustration was from the moment I order the system it had been shipped and I received it had been more than expected.
I wouldn't allow that to effect my decision to purchase, just realize that it is sent special delivery due to weight (119 pounds.) and only shipped UPS ground from Utah.
Bottom-line: I wouldn't have trouble recommending the machine as lengthy because the purchaser is within requirement for a "complete - all-in-one system and willing to cover the benefit."
I really hope this help, Best wishes and stay safe.

The Tripod is available in a double edged sword: The (lower tripod) and (T' Section for mounting 4 solar power panels)!
first - The Large Thumb Secure around the lower Tripod isn't a Stable design, and appears to become Miss Threaded so it won't thread completely in to the T' Section! making me afraid to place my solar power panels on the website.
second - The solar power panels mounting holes don't complement perfectly using the mounting holes from the T' Section. I accidentally broke two Solar Power Clips attempting to mount.
My idea is:
1) switch the flopping bit of metal that's holding the large secure, having a 3 point Triangular bracket!
2) Use bolts and wing nuts rather from the breakable clips, (File & or Drill the T' Section at the own risk!)
3) A much better secure might be available at the local home improvement store, usually takes the T' section along with you for any right diamond necklace.
Best of luck!2 Comments 19 of 20 people found this useful. Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... Appreciate your feedback. Sorry, we unsuccessful to record your election. Please try again Report abuse Very handy

Before purchasing i read a lot of reviews - they appeared to become split 50/50 in the type of positive towards the very negative. My knowledge about the tripod continues to be positive.
It arrives with 10 boulder clips, it's fairly easy to assemble if you read the directions (one piece of paper).... I modified the step for mounting the panels w/ the bracing arm to the tripod, but I am using only two boulder 30s.
It can make a pleasant stable platform that enables you to definitely constantly adjust your panels because the sun travels over the sky to maximise your time collection.
Things I am not excessively interested in:
Boulder clips - two have damaged on me. They seem very poor quality (Materials). The clips may also be difficult to utilize when connecting the panels together.. it is a very tight fit sometimes therefore it takes some persistence to obtain the clips to seat correctly and then removal could be a discomfort. The idea is excellent, it simply needs some refinement and excellence of the materials must be checked out.
How you adjust the legs around the tripod is a little a discomfort. The strap to regulate how wide setup is works and it's fairly straight foward... but when you are done you've all of this extra strap hanging loose you need to straighten out.
The panel brace and interface using the tripod - it really works, enables you to definitely adjust the panel position while stopping any kind of slide or drift because of wind or what not, but it might use a bit more refinement. They will use a rubber gasket to help keep things tight. I am concerned that more than time this will put on out quicker than I would like with time.
Lastly - If only this included a bag to place everything in. The ft are very pointy and you've two primary pieces towards the tripod to bother with - the legs and The panel brace.
