caution! don't buy! By Customer on April 13, 2014
I love the look of this aquarium, and it's the perfect size for the needs. It looked absolutely beautiful within our home, and I had been so pleased with it, a minimum of for a short while. I adopted the directions towards the letter, and everything was running perfectly for six days. I had been doing weekly cleanings having a gravel vacuum and 20% water changes, in addition to replacing the filter every two days. The fish were thriving and healthy. I believed it was perfect. Had I written an evaluation following the first five days, it might have five stars, and been highly suggested.
Red carpet days, we went away from home for two main hrs errands and came the place to find a massive burnt plastic smell. The filter pump and daytime lights had turn off, but were hot. Moisture had become within the lights, (that are within the lid, inches over the water, and not correctly sealed) and shorted the entire system. Our fish were fine, but the aquarium wasn't any longer functional. This item ought to be returnable if this fails so right after purchase. I don't want substitute parts, when i discover the design faulty and believe the product to become a fire hazard. Let's say we'd been gone all day long? I possibly could have forfeit my house. My cash is gone and this set is boxed up in the spare room and all set to go towards the dump.Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback...

Worst tank design ever By Eric I. On august 25, 2013 Another reviews were absolutely accurate, the style of this aquarium is extremely bad, the plastic scratches should you breath onto it way too hard, and the filter is noisy, Hard-wired, and CHEAP. My daughter wanted this stye and so i gave in and bought it (big mistake). The very first factor Used to do was rip the wiring and take away the noisy cheap filter and re-wire the sunlight so the switch still controlled the lights, the only good feature around the the whole tank, and why I gave it also one star. I ran my very own small 3 stage exterior filter and it had been absolutely quiet and a perfect setup, before the fish began mysteriously dying. In my opinion my concern is the melting plastic that among the other reviewers pointed out, this or something related to the plastic tank itself, or Brought lighting. It's a true mystery in my experience, and I'm a seasoned aquarium enthusiast along with other salt and fresh tanks throughout my house. Do your favor and avoid this tank, if perhaps for that serious scratching problem with a budget plastic. This one thing may cause you serious grief. If you prefer a awesome small tank obtain a Fluval as well. Something glass, and Created to last. Best of luck!Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... By Ducky Boy on May 21, 2013 After coping with the headache of the Fluval hipster tank with all of proprietary pumps and filters I needed a fish tank that also had style but also had more prevalent filtration elements. The Pillar is ideal both in individuals regards. First to deal with the complaint you cannot add heaters or aerators, for those who have an easy drill and a 3/8" bit you are able to remedy this problem easily. Washing the filter is all about 1000 occasions simpler than any Fluval I've had, for the reason that you swap the charcoal filter just like a tea bag, pop from the intake tube, Flush it and you're ready. The bio wheel sounded cheesy in my experience initially, but it appears to do a fantastic job balancing the tank - nice and Obvious. With reviews everywhere I had been weary to choose the Pillar but I am glad Used to do. I'd just recommend you verify the pump works before studying the whole setup. Used to do that due to the guy who got it for his sister, and affirmed the pump I acquired appeared weak and could not result in the biowheel spin. I required it back and the wrong AC adapter (18w) was incorporated if this must have been a 30w. Minor for this type of sleek and affordable tank. Anybody having a shred of aquarium experience will discover this tank to become a breeze to put together and maintain.1 Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... by J. Kerekes on This summer 4, 2012 This tank package has some serious issues. I attempted to love it. I truly did.
First and foremost, the form from the tank provides a funhouse mirror effect to viewing the fish. It is uncomfortable and frustrating should you really want so that you can call at your fish undistorted. that isn't the product's fault, though, that occurs with any round tank.
The tank is acrylic - which is not always an adverse, but it's extruded acrylic which isn't scratch resistant whatsoever. I had been gradually lowering a plastic log decoration in to the tank, and it lightly touched along side it. Scratched forever.
There's no lip around the tank. The very best, as pictured, isn't attached, and you can't fill to the surface of it without getting water spill out. Actually, you cannot even fill the tank to the peak of only the acrylic, because water movement may cause water to spill out - and so will switching off the filter and getting the additional water within the filter empty in to the tank. What this means is a comparatively constant splashing noise, because the level must be less than the filter's output.
Talking about the lid, the lid is how the Brought lighting is, and isn't disconnectable from all of those other setup. You will find wires with very little slack running into it, and that means you cannot go ahead and take fill up the tank and place it lower. You have to rest it precariously on top of the filter (the wires are extremely short to put it flat) if you wish to put any adornments in, because the obvious plastic flap on the top is prohibitively small.
Actually, the filter and lighting is all wired together, which means you cannot switch the built-in filter. Actually, even when it had not been all wired together, you could not change it since it is literally included in the rear of the tank. Read more › Comment Was this review useful for you?
