I must state that I wasn't expecting much with this particular product - I am talking about, a lens adapter Along with a lens for nothing more than the cost from the adapter however, despite a few of the other less reviews that are positive here, I discovered the adapter to become of excellent solid quality. Heavy like steel instead of cheaper alloys. I discovered it guaranteed towards the camera firmly having a firm click from the lens lock, and the lens screwed in and tightened not surprisingly. I didn't experience any looseness, and it organized for hrs throughout a several hour photography session. The lens performs as marketed and provides surprisingly sharp images. The iris functions properly, you can easily step-up and lower using the f/stops, and it features a smooth manual focus.
It's a extremely fast lens, which along with the The new sony Nex's low light abilities, churns out dark defying night shot images can look very surreal. Regarding video capture, it possesses a completely different ascetically pleasing perspective with movies which have a clear, crisp group of friends with radiating soft edges.
On the final note, this allows the chance of expanding your selection of lenses using the wide array of new and vintage C-mount lenses available. Comment Was this review useful for you? If you are on a tight budget and you do not possess a 35mm prime lens, this little lens is essential-have! It really is not perfect, but it's surprisingly sharp.
Dimensions: 2" Tall, 5.5" in circumference (Essentially 1.75" across). Quite simply, Ultra portable! My DSLR prime lenses are like 3x bulkier
IDEAL AMBIANCE: As you need to by hand adjust the main focus, I would not recommend this for shooting moving subjects. It's best suited for still photography (i.e. portraits, Still existence) in which you have constantly on the planet to fine-tune. A monopod or tripod could be advantageous. If shooting a couple of ft away or closer, you'd ideally only care about one specific area of the subject in focus (i.e. a couple of petals from the large flower). The main focus ring is in no way *difficult* to function or unsmooth, but it will need you to exert more pressure than say, by hand concentrating on an EF-S lens.
Quality: The lens is VERY solid--all metal/glass aside from rubber grips around the aperture/focus rings. The lens caps, However, are cheaply made (Soft Flexible Plastic)the trunk cap stays on fine, but I'd concern yourself with the leading cap falling. Even a few my DSLR lenses aren't all-metal, so for $30 which was a enjoyable surprise.
focusing: Regrettably, you will never get much closer than ~20 inches from your subject because of this I would not recommend this lens for macro shots. Apart from that, I've simply no difficulties with focusing. I had been worried the adapter wouldn't allow infinity focus, but it really works acceptable for me. when i mentioned earlier, the main focus ring is not lightning fast but it's buttery smooth. The point of focus is pretty small (not only due to the wide aperture), but whatever is within focus is brilliantly SHARP! Read more › 1 Comment Was this review useful for you? This little factor kicks butt. For thirty-odd dollars, how will you wrong?! It belongs in every NEX (& M4/3) owner's package.
- Picture quality is fairly dang good and totally belies its cost. Become familiar with the benefits and shortcomings (see "cons" below) and use its attributes and you are able to achieve some pretty awesome images.
- Very sharp frame center; on par with either NEX kit lens (18-55mm/16mm) otherwise possibly even a little sharper.
- Super-small size helps make the NEX nearer to being pocketable. Available too for M4/3.)
- Easily-damped focus and aperture rings.
- Includes adapter!
- Wonderfully lightweight.
- Fun to make use of. Brings the pleasure back to photography.
- Does not stay screwed onto adapter very safely, particularly when toying around using the aperture ring.
- Quality is...interesting (off-center figures, Incomplete metal parts, questionable calibration, ETC.). But dude, it is just thirty dollars.
- Severe vignetting.
- Bokeh is harsh yet interesting and Fascinating. no level of smoothness. However, it may yield some excellent renderings with creative publish-processing.
- Poor contrast and flare control. Contrast fixable in publish, though, to some extent.)
- No impressive tech-factor. You'll look downright silly standing alongside your friend using the NEX-7/CZ 24 1.7...ain't gonna pick up any ladies (men) transporting this ugly factor around, guys (Ladies).
Just add this for your cart and take a look at, will ya? Only 30-some dollars. Whether it breaks, just get a different one! It's under filling your car's vehicle's gas tank!Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... Appreciate your feedback. If the review is inappropriate, Please tell us. I got myself this lens because of its resemblance of the well-reviewed "SLR Magic" lens found elsewhere in excess of $100. I did not wish to spend $100 for what is, Ultimately, an inexpensive lens with cheap optics. Because that's what this lens is - and that is the point.
This lens is AMAZING. I have tried personally it almost solely since i have bought it. If you are searching for razor-sharp images with perfect color and no distortion, look elsewhere. But when you are searching for truly creative shots having a sharp center, dreamy vignetted borders, and a remarkably shallow depth of field, here's your baby. Open it up wide to f1.7 and get near to a little susceptible to achieve crazy "subject focus" effects - the depth of field is really short, and the perimeters are extremely blurred and vignetted, the only factor truly visible within the photo may be the subject. The circular aperture produces very swirly, dreamlike bokeh. Have a perspective photo and it almost appears like a tilt-shift. At approximately f4 the lens is gorgeous for portrait shooting, with soft facial expression and a flattering depth of field. Give a backlight source for AMAZING lens flare that creates a powerful, soft glow. Or close it lower to f8 approximately to obtain a reasonably sharp lens having a less effected look.
Incidentally, utilizing a manual lens on the camera was once a non-starter. But with the NEX's manual focusing capabilities (zoom assist and peaking) it is simple to achieve perfect focus. So much in fact that i'm now thinking about getting other high-quality manual lenses - they are really simple to use.Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback...
