This poncho is light enough to toss into my backpack Each Time I plan to be out and about...It may be used as a little shelter, too, Really. Significantly less cumbersome compared to US military poncho I am accustomed to. It consists of a lighter-duty material that could be punctured fairly easily, but I recommend it for that quite simple reason it hardly weighs anything. I like the neutral color, too. A properly unisex shade of khaki. My USGI version often got left at home because it weighed my daypack down (and felt just like a moist rubbish bin liner against my skin.)
Invaluable inside a rain storm to avoid hypothermia, even just in summer time. When you get stranded within the forest for just about any period of time, this factor could save your valuable existence...Or at best keep the core dry and Cozy... Also it does not feel 'skeevy'!5 Comments Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... Appreciate your feedback. If the review is inappropriate, Please tell us. Putting on this is preferable to getting totally wet. Your arms get wet if you're getting around, particularly if you have lengthy sleeves on. Water does drip lower in your legs if you have shorts on, it runs lower your footwear. Put on lengthy pants if at all possible - easier to have wet legs than saturated ft. also, put on a ball cap underneath the hood, this can keep the mind and face dry.Comment Was this review useful for you? This poncho is extremely lightweight yet appears durable. It's made from a top quality material which does not keep to the skin in warm weather. My daughter required it to camp and does not mind putting on it. It is a big improvement within the less costly versions which aren't whatsoever comfortable to put on throughout the summer time several weeks. certainly well worth the cost.2 Comments Was this review useful for you? This can be a quality creation that is lightweight and comfortable to put on in hot damp weather. It does not keep to the skin such as the less costly plastic versions. It appears as if it'll last a long time and overall well worth the cost.Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... First, allow me to state that this poncho appears perfectly made, but Thinking about the dimensions and weight, it might be returning.
I ought to know right now when I am searching for something specific, to obtain the specifications. Nevertheless, Used to do look elsewhere to locate size and weight specs about this ever since they were not incorporated within the description. I visited the Frogg Toggs website directly, and didn't discover the item there. I visited websites of countless other suppliers, and no specs were listed there either. The only real clue Used to do find is the fact that a few of the other sites identified this item being an "emergency" poncho, which brought me to think it might be similar in dimensions and weight with other emergency ponchos. that's not the situation.
The carry sac that included this poncho measures 10 1/2" x 8" and is all about 1/2" thick. The situation was ripped and missing among the two snaps it ways to use closure. I moved the poncho to some small stuff sac I've wishing to lessen the dimensions, and that now measures 5 1/2" x 5" x 3 1/2". The load such as the sac is all about 8 or 9 ounces.
This really is nowhere near small or light enough to help keep within my daily duffel type carry bag, that was my intention. IMO, this could work nicely stored inside a vehicle, but not a way would I'm guessing hiking or ensure that it stays my daily duffel type carry bag.2 Comments Was this review useful for you? By KM2014 on April 3, 2015 Size: One Size Color: Khaki I got myself this item like a lighter in weight substitute towards the USGI military poncho. I've been fiddling and trying out military-style ponchos with regards to rain gear/ shelter for hiking and possibly an insect out scenario. USGI Military ponchos are frequently heavy weighing around 2 1/2 pounds excluding stakes, ridge line, and guy lines. This poncho is unquestionably lightweight and weighs around 8-9 oz. It however doesn't have any grommets to be used being an emergency shelter when the need arises. I've rigged mine with duck tape for tie out loops and it will work nicely.
My problem with this poncho is durability, the fabric is perfect for the possible lack of a much better word WEIRD. It doesn't feel durable whatsoever and is bot abrasion resistant, mine had been scuffed from it's own carry pouch's buttons.
There's two other ponchos that spring to mind. The fox outdoors ripstop poncho are available for less than $20.00. It arrives with grommets around the corners, but I have not seen one personally so are only able to recommend it according to online reviews. I actually do however own the Kelty Rain Poncho and recommend it. It is only $10 more at $24.99 consists of an infinitely more durable Memory coated Polyester. It weight 8.6 oz has grommets around the corners to be used like a shelter and comes in an exceedingly nice carry pouch and is a lot more compact compared to Frogg Toggs poncho.
Though this poncho isn't a bad deal I highly recommend searching in a couple of other options which are handier, Stronger, and more and more great looking...Comment Was this review useful for you?
