By JTM on August 29, 2013 Size: One Size Color: Black
The Bar Fly 2.is an excellent upgrade! I have owned both original Bar Fly 1. and the Bar Fly 1.1. the fir.1 added a pleasant "click" in the physical stop when mounting a Garmin Edge. With that said, The Bar Fly 2.has a far greaterOrMuch more SECURE "click" whenever you hit the physical stop. I own both a Garmin Edge 5 and the larger Garmin Edge 81. Both Garmin units completely cover The Bar Fly 2.when "clicked" in. The Garmin Edge 500 may be used either in the forward or aft mounting slot while Garmin Edge 810 must make use of the forward mounting slot. I find using the forward mounting slot for both the Garmin Edge 5 and the Garmin Edge 810 is the easiest. The Bar Fly 2.is undoubtedly a "beefier/sturdier" upgrade towards the Bar Fly 1. and 1.1. The way they've designed The Bar Fly 2.to permit a Garmin Edge to become flush using the handlebars/stem is another excellent touch. Should you possess a Garmin Edge, you'll love The Bar Fly 2.!Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... Exactly what a a pleasant step-up in the rubberband based stock mount! My Edge 500 now sits just in-front and core stem. looks very clever. It also causes it to be more readable. The mount doesn't budge when pressing the computer's buttons (the stock you do).
I considered the K-Edge mount, which is sleeker (metal versus plastic and costs two times), but what swayed me towards the Barfly2.is its clever dual mounting positions. I use the near mount for the smaller Edge 500 (instead of the Edge 800 series). This sits the system nearer to the stem for any sleeker look.
Because the bikeradar review stated, the mount won't center with stem faceplates wider than 40mm. I'm very picky about such things as this and it will be a deal breaker. I solved this issue by carefully losing a couple of mm of fabric in which the mounting ring meets the stem and its face plate. Clearly, I have voided the warranty, but I'm happy using the results. Obviously, Should you choose exactly the same factor, you would be doing the work entirely at the own risk! Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... 1. Only fits newer 31.8mm bars as they are. For those who have 25.4mm bars you may require some shims. I selected up some free of charge inside my LBS. I additionally saw a trick utilizing an old plastic bracelet, (e.G. LivestronG). I attempted it but the shims with ridges around the edges are more effective.
2. The space in the bar mount towards the Garmin mount can be somewhat longer. My Garmin 800 barely clears the bar clamp secure and hits it on large bumps that is departing an indication around the situation. I'm going to try tape or rubber to protect itComment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... Appreciate your feedback. If the review is inappropriate, Please tell us. There are many "out front" mount choices for the Garmin quarter turn twist mount cycling devices. That one is really a homer. reasonable cost, plastic therefore it will not tear your carbon bars or even the device tabs and solid like a rock. Mounts your Garmin at bar level not above and has two mounting locations so both 500 and 800 styles are near to the front from the stem. I loved the main one I purchased in my bicycle enough I purchased another one for that MTB.Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... This mount weighs nothing and Attaches rapidly and With easy. The Garmin locks along with an easy half turn and once kept in it's firmly affixed. The out front positioning is ideal. It’s front and center having a only a slight upward tilt. It’s worth the cost and I'm able to’t believe I anxiously waited such a long time to purchase this. Finally, before using one I rapidly bought another in my wife’s bike.1 Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... My new bike fit reduced my stem length significantly where it grew to become difficult to check out Garmin while riding. The Bar Fly 2.mount extends the pc within the handles and the SRAM adapter completes body for that Garmin 705 and older devices!Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... Great mount in my Garmin 500. I didn't realize my bicycle handlebars weren't as thick because the new style so I needed to apply certain rubber grommets beneath it. Overall, I love getting the Garmin out front and it holds it very safely.Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback...
