very poor suction
By W. J. Lee on December 30, 2011
3 of three people found this review useful Bought this cheap substitute for that original TomTom window mount I lost. The suction cup of the unit never remained on my small windshield. I acquired so frustrated which i stopped reapplying the system towards the window and drove using the navigator within my lap. PAY MORE For That FACTORY ORIGINAL. the product isn't worthwhile.Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... Appreciate your feedback. 3 of three people found this review useful This really is this type of bad quality bit of plastic, it literally broke on first used in ten minutes, the suction plastic had a crack inside it and so that it grew to become useless. Waste of cash, avoid!Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... Appreciate your feedback. Sorry, we unsuccessful to record your election. 2 of two people found this review useful The product was right to do the job. I have seen other reviews where customers couldn't have it that you follow their car windows but there's an absolute knack for you to get it to do this. You have to press it from the glass and simultaneously also exert some pressure anti-clockwise, then turn gradually clockwise. Not to mention to get rid of it you have to turn anti-clockwise and remove in the glass. You might want to check it out a couple of occasions before getting the knack from it but your time and effort is going to be worthwhile.Comment Was this review useful for you? 2 of two people found this review useful Don't even do this out. That's what I figured after i first viewed it online. I'll just give it a try and find out if it really works...It's not Tom Tom brand. It holds my Tom Tom all right but does not keep to the window whatsoever. The small turn factor that's suppose to really make it suction does not suck the suction cup. The product jogs my memory from the cheep stand in the flea market that sells damaged undesirable electronics.Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... 1 of 1 people found this review helpful If you were happy with the original TomTom suction cup mount (and understands how it operates - placed on the car windows and turn the knob), that one works the identical. Included a sticky ring connected to the suction cup - I removed the sticky ring as I wish to move between vehicles, and the rest of the suction cup works fine. it's not the initial, but I'd say it's 90% from the original's quality and, For that cost, is a superb substitute. I'm happy.Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... Appreciate your feedback. Sorry, we unsuccessful to record your election. 1 of just one people found this review useful Our original Tom-Tom car windows mount finally gave out after five years. Tom-Tom no longer has this style so went to my usual fall back (.com) and Bought this. Now, it has an adhesive ring around the suction cup which only lasted 30 days within our heat. Once the adhesive ring gave out, we peeled them back, and use only the suction cup like our old one. is effective, but if its super hot (90's or hotter, will not stay with car windows.Comment Was this review useful for you? By Customer on September 2, 2013
I got myself this mount to exchange a TomTom original with a suction cup that is not sticking for over a couple of days before popping off. Regrettably the lookOrproduction of the copycat substitute mount was poorly performed, producing a product which only "almost" fits my TomTom's mounting ring, and jiggles excessively when modified to suit. After I reported the problem towards the seller, they sent us a substitute but the substitute has got the same issue. Upon close inspection I discovered that engagement lip around the mounting ring is simply too wide to allow the spring clips around the TomTom snap in to the mounting ring groove. Result: the Gps navigation pops from the mount in the smallest touch. As being a upon the market design engineer, I thinned the lip on among the mounts sufficiently for that Gps navigation to snap in position as safely as on my small original TomTom mount. I figured I'd achieved success: the Gps navigation remained within the mount and the mount suction cup remained stuck to mounting disc around the dashboard for that week approximately which i tried on the extender. Regrettably, there's another design flaw, in that the suction cup attachment has so much 'play' in it that the GPS jiggles excessively when on the road (in contrast to the initial TomTom mount).
And So I have abandoned these cheap replacements and will screw my original mount towards the mounting disc and be happy with it.Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback...
