by S. Morris on This summer 19, 2013 Style Name: New Projector I purchased this projector being an upgrade to my Optoma HD66 and could not be more happy. The Optoma was beginning to put on out, and certainly offered its purpose like a starter projector, but this Epson 3020 causes it to be seem like a toy. Sorry for any novel length reply, I simply wanted to make certain hitting all of the selling points which were an issue in my experience when thinking about this purchase. I read hundreds of reviews (especially lengthy ones, this is where probably the most data is) and researched many projectors in the last couple of moths before buying that one. I think you'll find my information helpful.
rapidly, About me: I am no A/V pro, but certainly an enthusiast. I own an IT company, so I am very savvy with regards to technical electronics. I presently possess a Marantz 5.1 reciever with Bose bookshelf loudspeakers and a MartinLogan 10" sub. My room is all about 12'x12' with one window and multiple lights of different intensity. My screen is really a cheap Elite Screens M84UWH, but I'm really pleased with it. I replaced an Optoma HD66 that I have had for ~3yrs. I have discovered fundamental to mid-level calibrations of both audio and Video Products, and am extremely rectal retentive with regards to both. I watch television, play game titles and watch movies online around the projector. I Don't have another TV which i watch, making this my primary mode of video entertainment and is certainly not really a dedicated home entertainment cinema projector.
My greatest fear was brightness. I have this in a room with very little light control (just blinds), and because it was with a rating of 200 lumens under the Optoma I had been really worried there would not be enough light... Boy was that does not the situation! Read more › 1 Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... Appreciate your feedback. If the review is inappropriate, Please tell us. We like this projector! Epson first got it right! The brand new rf glasses don't lose sync, are very light-weight, and re-charge rapidly. (Along with a charge lasts for approximately 40 hrs.) This model also converts 2D to 3D (and 3D to 2D, as needed). These two changes really are a big improvement within the previous model--if individuals things appeal to you. We believe the 3D quite a bit of fun!
It's built-in loudspeakers, that are great if you wish to take this towards the backyard or vacation place. But I'd recommend adding a receiver and loudspeakers for the best seem. (Make certain to capture through the receiver by having an hdmi cable that may handle return audio and 3D if you would like the very best sync. We hooked a classic receiver without hdmi to the blu ray through the two audio outs and sent the hdmi towards the projector, and there is an obvious delay. It had not been awful, but many new receivers are extremely cheap, you might like to upgrade if you are utilizing an older receiver.)
the colours look wonderful and the blacks are great. We are utilizing a 120" diagonal screen having a 16' throw, and It's plenty vibrant, too--even just in 3D. The projector does not handle lots of ambient light, though--a minimum of in my experience. And also the 3D glasses catch glare for those who have ambient light. So I'd say intend on watching in low light or darkness to find the best results--IMHO.
We intend on using our projector pool side this summer time, therefore we constructed own ceiling mount with quick release. (It mounts with M4 screws.) However this unit does not have lens shift up or lower and the only real right or left adjustment utilizes a keystone corrector. If you can't have it exactly in the correct height and centering, you may have a problem.
Within the last 5 years, we have viewed a 60" 1080i TV. Read more › 4 Comments Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... By Eric Rose on December 28, 2013 Style Name: New Projector I have the 3020e (essentially exactly the same model but with wireless HDMI). I needed to place my review here where more and more people might find it.
Incidentally, the wireless HDMI is really a discomfort to make use of and In summary, isn't worthwhile. You can see my review under the 3020e (when they allow me to publish two reviews).
also, I have an Epson 8350 (an excellent 1080p projector) which means this review is essentially an evaluation from the 2.
Finally, my reason behind getting this projector was to obtain the 3D, so I'll be concentrating on that. Okay, and yet another last factor: This is my 4th projector (480p, 720p, 1080p, and finally 1080p-3D), All EPSON, and so i have enough knowledge about Epson projectors. Okay, one further last factor: We have lots of Epson projectors at the office within our conference and training rooms, so much more Epson experience under my belt.
Okay, If you wish to cut towards the chase: This projector is completely awesome, and without having a 1080p projector and are searching for just one, Have this one, the 3020.
Let's focus on the comparison:
In my testing, I've got a The new sony receiver with 5 HDMI inputs and one High-definition multimedia interface output. I send the output to some monoprice powered HDMI splitter that transmits 2 outputs concurrently. I send someone to the 8350, and another for this 3020e. For inputs in to the The new sony receiver, I've an Apple TV, a PS3 and A PS4.
Used to do comparisons with assorted sources, including bluray movies, Vudu HDX movies, and FPS games around the PS3 and PS4. I'd blank out one projector and leave another on, then switch (it was really quite annoying and difficult to do because both projectors use the very same remote, therefore it was difficult to prevent one from obtaining the signal and not another. However I persevered for Everyone!). Read more › 6 Comments Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... Appreciate your feedback. If the review is inappropriate, Please tell us.
