22 of 22 people found the following review helpful Great all-in-one butane torch, Soldering, and hot air tool
By Luke S on December 1, 2014
If you'd like an exciting-in-one tool to from time to time do soldering, rope cutting, heat, warmth diminishing, pyrography (etching wood with heat or flame), and hot knife work a great solution. You will find dedicated tools which are better for everybody job but don't have the versatility and portability. If you are planning to make use of the product for straightforward soldering jobs where you can get electricity you will find reduced cost options that don't require butane refills just like an electric soldering iron. If you're soldering components which are responsive to heat, you need to use a soldering iron where one can dial inside a temperature precisely. I purchased the VersaTip for that occasions I have to solder something outdoors and don't seem like running extra time cord, for convenient soldering of wires because this unit gets hotter very rapidly, and to make use of the new air top for warmth shrink and desoldering jobs. I purchased the product within the other butane torches for 2 reasons mainly the flexibility within the tip options and the dermal name which has a cost premium but has got the convenience of having the ability to purchase attachments and accessories for in the major hardware stores in your area.
The main difference between the product, the VersaTip, and Dremel's other product within this category the VersaFlame may be the VersaTip is much more suited to jobs that require more precision and fine control for example soldering and pyrography. The VersaTip includes more accessories a cutting knife, shaping knife, Heat tip, and wide blower tip the VersaFlame doesn't include. The VersaFlame has a blower rather from the wide blower the VersaTip includes. The VersaFlame is bigger and utilizes a different flame mind. Read more › 3 Comments Was this review useful for you? By Corey L. Ostercamp on November 26, 2014 I purchased mine to repair a electricity power port on the laptop and it labored superbly. Make use of the heat tip to melt the solder and come out the main harbour, then make use of the soldering tip for that new piece. Local computer guys wanted 2 to 3 occasions the price of it simply to switch the port. Now I've got a working laptop Along with a awesome new tool as well!1 Comment Was this review useful for you? I have had this a while now. for any jet flame, ideal for heat shrinking tubing, excellent soldering, decent. beware the exhaust when soldering though, I acquired lighlty singed, it requires some time to awesome lower, I melted a few close by plastic bags after setting it lower the very first couple of occasions.
the star is knocked off for two reasons
1. just a design factor, I'd like the ignition change to do dual purpose being an unlock for that remain on function. I keep attempting to power it down with this switch, I'll go on, and I am getting very good at one handed switching off because it is, but it isn't convenient
2. the new air blower is all messed up already, I have tried on the extender off and on for a few several weeks now, but the screen that keeps the flame back occasionally enables the flame through. I've not determined tips to get a substitute yet, and it type of irks me.
I actually do accept other reviewers concerning the situation being terrible, much more of an exhibition situation than the usual storage situation, but because it mostly stays within my shop, Not really a huge deal.Comment Was this review useful for you? Great little butane solder/torch. Needed to purchase a small pistol situation for five.00 to place all things in such as the Butane, the metal box it arrived was not really much good. 2 Comments Was this review useful for you? This can be a wonderful illustration of why you need to choose the right designed tool to do the job...particularly if you're a professional. However, there's always the temptation to purchase something which is going to do multiple jobs and seems to become convenient. The Dremel Versa Tip is a such tempting tool, and Yes, I was a victim of the temptation due to clever marketing and promoters who hyped its worthiness.
The tool comes in a nice metal box with attachments to perform a number of jobs. I had been astounded by design and wanting to check it out. Particularly, I needed a soldering tool that will let me do stick soldering with copper and silver. I already have a wide range of torches, but that one appeared as if it might be very comfortable to carry and give additional control. Regrettably it requires a lengthy time for you to warm up and doesn't really achieve the high temperature essential to permit the solder I personally use to circulate correctly. Hence this isn't a great soldering tool for fine silver or copper jewellery. It will use your family solder provided. I suppose I is constantly use my pencil and micro torches.
There are many other activities it does do...i am certain. I'll help you stay published when i travel our prime route to justify my purchase. The following factor I'll attempt to do is rope cutting. I will show you how as it happens.Comment Was this review useful for you? Yes No Delivering feedback... Appreciate your feedback. If the review is inappropriate, Please tell us. By Robert H. Bryngelson on The month of january 3, 2015 You will find better tools but not for the similar cost because this Dremel Torch. If you are looking at wood burning, Shading and pyrographics buy Colwood's Wood Burning package and get a lot more in charge and safety than what Dremel is providing. If you are looking at soldering purchase a soldering iron. I didn't return the product because I needed to utilize it to check it, However, it's over-hyped and not really a tool for wood or plastic artwork. Simple to charge with butane but leaks and isn't a santiary or for me a secure procedure. The consumer must becareful by which direction the main harbour around the tip is pointed or else you will finish up burning something that you don't wish to be burned. also, what exactly take lengthy time for you to awesome and the consumer needs to understand this when altering tips or resting it inside a workspace. If you wish to make use of a flame, purchase a pencil torch. If you wish to take control of your burn or cutting buy an quality wood burning package.2 Comments Was this review useful for you?
